Milk of Magnesia is supposed to be good for washing your face, deep cleaning the pores and stuff. Next time I am out, i will get some and try that with the tape.
Wow, I never knew that! (Wonder if works old faces like mine, too! ) Thanks for sharing this; think I'll give it a try.

This place is wonderful for CPAP stuff, but you also never know what kind of great information you'll get on here totally CPAP unrelated!

Cassandra, as counter-intuitive as it may seem, you might want to also continue to try other nasal-only masks. I am convinced that when you find the right mask that is stable and not constantly leaking, your mouthbreathing may dissipate.

Or it might not. But it's my theory and I'm sticking to it. For now.

I say this because I was convinced I was a mouth breather, but since going on the Nasal Aire II, my reports do not show this at all. I don't wake up with the effects you describe.

So, what the heck, keep trying masks. Doesn't cost a whole lot to get on one on of the Test Drives, and as you can see, folks here are generous and often will offer you a mask for free or low cost.

Cheers,
Barbara

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

If you haven't read about using Milk of Magnesia with your taping procedure, try it.

Cassandra, wow....wow.....wow.....
Your new, easy, carefree, effective form of cpap therapy is en transit , as we speak.

Give up the glue and tape and coatings.

Gluers, tapers, strappers, MoM painters, panty hose wear'ers....
flame on!

to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."

y'all really got me rolling this afternoon. I will not give up! And, as demonstrated, the lengths I will go to to get good therapy, well.. they are pretty far!

For those of you who are interested in MoM as a facial cleanser, the book said to wash your face, spread the MoM on and let it dry. Then wash it off. Won't be the weirdest thing I've ever put on my face in the interest of endless youth.

Ummm, I need to go and wash my mind out. I also have to move it cause it for some reason went to the gutter and I don't know why.

I'll see you all after I've found it and cleaned it up.

You know, I went there, too! (I totally thought that--"I know what people are gong to think if I am too vague.") But it is NOT what you were thinking.

Most recently, I've been washing my face with salt & vinegar and moisturizing with coconut oil. Practically salad dressing, I know.

Extremely thin layer allowed to dry is also supposed to block oily areas from showing thru foundation...haven't tried so can't comment...just passing along.

(These smiley faces are not at all related to this post. My five year old wanted me to add some smileys to the message 'cause he thinks they are funny)

I got two masks to try! A hybrid and a FFM. They both fit and don't leak... Well, not any more than my nasal pillow one does, which is not enough to register in my data. If I roll over and put pressure on them, they will leak a little. But I just jiggle them back into place and they stop leaking. I had basically the same experience with my original nasal pillow.

Both of them prevent that horrible dry mouth feeling I was waking up with! But, I'm having the same adjustment issue that I had with my original. I would wake up at night with headaches because it was too tight or wake up with it riding up the back of my head because it was too loose, etc. I resolved this after a week or two of use, so this I think also is typical. I think on the hybrid, the medium pillow might be a little too big. I can't decide. I can wear the medium and small pillow on my Opus, and the medium pillow on the hybrid fits. But it feels a little funny to me, so I think I want to find me a small pillow and try that out. I'm going to check in the pillow exchange thread first. But they aren't too expensive to buy new.

Most importantly, I feel like I am getting more sleep! **angels singing**

I'm not dragging myself out of bed in the mornings. No more mouth puffing! And no more blisters on my lips from taping. (I didn't tell y'all about that and I will spare you the details except to say that it hurt like begeezez!)

Much, much heartfelt thanks to everybody for your help and suggestions. As a person who has suffered from poor sleep for so long, and still have to get up early anyway, I begin to get anxiety over not being able to sleep. It's hard for me to explain what a huge weight this has lifted for me.

I'll trade my small for your large pillow if you have one. PM me if interested.

I can't imagine dealing with this with a 5 yr old...my admiration. It's nice to have something concrete to deal with, like mask leaks, isn't it instead of some inexplicable and intractable sleeping-exhaustion problem.

That is so true! It's so much easier to have a problem that can be worked on, examined, analyzed, and experimented with.
