Thanks Newbies!
Thanks Newbies!
You remind me where I came from,
how difficult it was to get started,
how easy it is now and
how thankful I am for my new life.
I don't ever want to forget the pain and the fatigue
and the loss of memory and cognative ability.
I don't every want to forget those first few weeks.
The crushing fatigue from getting no sleep due to the
mask and blowing air and leaks and the sores in my nares.
I want to appreciate, every night, the ease of putting on my Papcap/mask.
The feeling of comfort and security it brings,
knowing I will be safe in my sleep.
I don't ever want to forget to give thanks,
as I revel everyday, in the joy of my new life,
that cpap brings to me everynight.
Your posts may be the most important posts that I read right now.

I'm glad that you have the ability to put it so eloquently. You really have talent Carbonman. I agree with you completely because when I read the Newbies' post I also remember just how much progress I've made. It's not an easy road but it's definitely worth the view when you get to the top.

If you ever want to see how far you've come or how far someone else has come, all you have to do is go back to a persons post #1. It's interesting & motivational reading.

Wow. I just went back to look at my first post and I'm shocked at what happened to me.Rustyolddude wrote:If you ever want to see how far you've come or how far someone else has come, all you have to do is go back to a persons post #1. It's interesting & motivational reading.
I went from a babbling idiot to a flaming idiot.
Oh well.
At least my apnea is well treated.

Carbonman,
Thanks for taking b%#*%## and complaining(speaking for myself--that's what I feel like I am always doing these days) and giving it a positive spin.
You know how the saying goes...about walking a mile in someones shoes... can't think of exactly how it goes...I really miss my brain...
Seriously, you've walked in our shoes...and speaking for myself, as a newbie to anything in life, I find the most comfort from people who have been there...
(None of the supposed technicians aka salespeople, I spoke to when cpap shopping had OSA. example "Well no, I don't have it and don't know anyone with it, but I tried on the mask, so I know exactly how people feel"...notsocomforting)
Leave us your old shoes carbonman. They are probably too fast for me, leave some slower worn out ones for us newbies to work our way up to. I can't wait to get where you are...
I cannot emphasize enough how much the following kind of encouragement keeps me going:
Thanks Carbonman and the rest of you Experienced Persons (EPs). I cannot wait to look back at my posts and see how far I've come.
ps. Dreamstalker: I kind of like babbling idiots, and, well, I guess I kinda am one. My friends and family won't recognize me if I stop babbling...

Re: Thanks Newbies!
CB, you're so right, the newbies are so important as our constant reminders of how far we've come and of all the pros who were there to guide us during those overwhelming times. You were and still are a great source of encouragement for me.

Nice post Carby I'm still learning how to post properly, like inserting quotes! My xpap experience should continue to develop as long as knowledgeable members such as yourself continue to offer support.carbonman wrote:You remind me where I came from,
