Who's not happy with their Aura?
You all have me thinking seriously about trying the Aura. My swift is leaking like crazy again. My 'numbers' look great but I feel horrible. I'm so tired of being tired and I'm sick of getting up several times a night to adjust the mask for leaks. I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow and will discuss 2 things: Why do I still feel so tired all the time? and Can I please try an APAP? Wish me luck!

I've not been ignoring you!! Just popping in to look around and see what's happening - but too busy to stay and write!!
Things are going well with me thanks. I think towards the end of October I will be getting the new S8 auto and humidifier on the NHS (the UK health provider). I am quite excited about that and really pleased to be getting something so much smaller for travelling. I have the Auto set spirit at the moment which I love, but it's a heavy beast!
I still have my swift, which I haven't used in ages, but I'm keeping it as a backup in case something happens to the breeze. But I have to say your pain was my gain, the breeze is perfect for me and I can't see myself changing at all.
So pleased to hear that the Aura is working for you. Like you, I thought the swift was the 'bees-knees' for a while but those side straps really got to me! The aura has none of that and is so comfortable. In fact it is more comfortable than the breeze, but like I said, I felt I was working harder to breath with the aura, even though the pressure was good, whereas, with the breeze, there always seems to be air to spare.
I will post more sometimes, but don't think I'm ignoring you all, just getting busy now I have my life back again.

SC,
I'm glad someone benefitted from my "pain," as you put it. It's great that you're still so happy with the Breeze. And I hear what you're saying about the Swift. All we can do is go by what we've used until we find something that works better for us. In your case, it was the Breeze. In mine, it was the Aura.
Glad to hear nothing bad was keeping us from hearing from you over the past few weeks and that all is well. Good luck with getting the new S8. Let us know what you think of it. Does that have monitoring software with it? I don't know much about it. Isn't that the new one that comes with a heated hose, like the Aussie?
Amy,
Good luck with the doctor tomorrow. I hope they can get some insight into why someone who has been as angelic in complying with therapy such as yourself is not feeling better yet. There has got to be something else lurking in the background that is being missed. Hope it's something simple to find and just as simple to fix. What have your numbers been telling you on the software? You don't mention it at all.
On another topic (sorry), got a new scale yesterday and I am not happy. This one weighs me in at about five lbs. more than my old broken jalopy one, so I have a bit more than my 9 lbs. to lose. Also, today it showed a FOUR POUND GAIN on my old one. I personally think it's that time of water weight and will have to see in a week if it comes off. But to say I'm unhappy with this area right now is an understatement. But, hey, we put it in perspective and don't let it get us down, right? There's far worse than that.
Please let me know how you do tomorrow at the doctor. I'll keep you in my prayers tonight that you get some good news and that they can figure out what is causing you to still be so tired.

I am at 8.5.
I abandoned the Aura because of vanity.
My hair did not break but after a few weeks the front top of my hair flattened so much that it looked like a meteor had struck and leveled all hair follicles radiating from a center point - In this way, I wish I did NOT look like Sean and WAS a little bald. Otherwise, the Aura performed well - sealed, nothing touching the face, and allowed me to sleep on my back as well as sides. There was rainout at times, something the Swift does not have. I am back to the Swift and am thinking of plugging up the holes and drilling new ones at the top, like the Aura

Very interesting post. Where would you drill new holes on the Swift? I can't think of anywhere that could be done. What a concept if you figure that one out. I'd be curious if you do. Please let us all know if that happens.
Sorry to hear that Aura wasn't for you. You could try doing what Rested Gal did and remove the lockbox and reconstruct it as, I agree, it is the most comfortable interface you can use.
Good luck with your Swift idea.

My first few nights with the Aura were great but I struggled with leaks for the last few. It wasn't til I read this thread that the higher pressure issue registered with me (I've only been playing the cpap for three weeks or so).
Anyhow, I went back and looked at the times when I would wake up with leaks and sure enough that is when the pressure went above 14. For those first few nights, the pressure creeped up to the neighborhood of 14 but didn't remain there. The nights I had a problem, the pressure did go up higher for a longer period of time.
I am not ready to give up on the Aura because it is much more comfortable than my other mask (a full face Ultra Mirage) but I do think I am going to have to look into tinkering with it.
I think I must have gotten a lemon, though, too, because I had a pinhole leak in the pillow and now the other night, the plastic piece that holds the strap broke off....sigh. Replacement parts are on the way, though.

I don't know about being "angelic" but I have definitely been compliant. The 1st thing he mentioned is that my "snore" levels have been a bit high. He wants me to increase my pressure to 12 (I have to find my notes on how to do that). My AHI runs around 2 or 3 which would be really wonderful if I were feeling better. I know to the rest of you, a 2 or 3 would be heaven and I would agree if I felt better. The 2nd thing he suggested is to increase my Provigil. The last thing (for now) is to lose weight...I saw that coming and that's ok with me. I'm having ALOT of stomach trouble though so I may have to back off a bit on the "healthy" foods. We talked about a few other things we might do in the future but I'll try all of this for a month and then we'll decided where to go next.Sleepless on LI wrote:SC,

Lori, this is a no brainer...get rid of the new scale...keep the jalopy

Thanks Lori...you're such a sweetie. I did talk to him about RLS and PLMD and he feels it's a non-issue for me. Apparently increased limb movement is common during a sleep test. He also said the place that did my study isn't very good at monitoring leg movements. Also, I don't have the other symptoms of RLS. To be honest, I didn't think I had RLS and I'm happy to hear that he feels the same way. I'm just so happy to have somebody helping me that actually seems to be competent. He actually "rolled" his eyes when I mentioned my DME....I got a big kick out of that.
Oh, I forgot to mention something very important....He said that he's "investigated" CPAP.COM and thinks they're great! He also said they have the best prices around! I told him about this message board and he thought it was EXCELLENT!!!

Amy,
I'm glad you found a doctor who is giving you some suggestions as well as insight into what is going on with you. So raising your pressure a bit, eh? Don't forget the ramp. If you need help with your settings, PM me or email me. I'll talk you through them.
I loved your suggestion about my new scale. But you know what? It's probably accurate so I should just realize I was that much heavier when I started and still have a way to go. That explains, though, why even though the scale said I was close to my goal, I didn't feel like I was. I have come some distance, but now just have more of a distance to go still. Oh, well. What can you do? Can't change the numbers.
Let me know how things go in the next few days, please, after you've given the new presure a few nights to work. I hope this helps your energy level. I'll be keeping a positive thought or two in my head for you.
