Who's not happy with their Aura?
I want to hear both sides. We have four or five here who are very happy, are their any that are not? If so, why not?

Not to steal their thunder...perhaps they will jump in and tell you, but as best I remember from previous posts...
Some that didn't like the Aura were:
WillSucceed and th - too much condensation formed in the nasal hoop. th was even using the Aussie heated hose to control rainout.
th's wife couldn't use it - headgear too big for her.
Derek - leaked for him, possibly attributed to very large nares and no "extra large" pillows available.
LCM (Lorraine) - thought it was causing her hair to break.

I hate the aura because it's just too darn good. It's just way too comfortable. I've heard that cpap therapy is a real pain in the butt, so my aura must not be working because it is just so easy to use. It's also too simple to clean. Just one piece to twist off and run under the faucet with some soap. It also allows me too many sleep positions. I toss and turn all night trying to decide.. should I sleep on my back... should I sleep on my side... should I sleep on my stomach. I don't know any reason why someone would want to use such a perfect interface.

The Aura would not seal at higher titration levels. I am at a constant 14 cm. The wires were not stiff enough to apply enough pressure to keep it from leaking. Fortunately I bought it from "the other place" that took it back for a full refund. The Activa is still my favorite. Even side sleeping with the mask pushed up by the pillow it still seals.

I've experimentally turned the pressure all the way up to a straight 20 to see if the Aura's nasal pillows would seal for me "up there". I had to put a (yes, RnR!!.....) PANTYHOSE TIGHTS LEG around the nasal part -- not snugly at all -- just "there" as a tiny bit more support.
The material went across the front of the nasal "hoop", down at the nostrils, and around the back of my head. Worn like a sweat band, but down low at the nostrils. Tied it behind my neck at the base of the skull. Used a "double start knot" to keep the material flat back there.
Worked comfortably and sealed perfectly at the straight pressures I tried of 17, 18, 19, and 20. Could toss and turn -- back, side, tummy, all without leaking. I couldn't stand those high pressures long, but the Aura with "tights" leg sure could.
This was with the Aura's own headgear and only the addition of that soft homemade strap (NOT PULLED TIGHTLY) across the nasal hoop and around to the back of the head.
A double start knot can be seen here:
http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/doublestartknot.htm
Using the soft stretchy material of pantyhose "tights", that kind of knot holds securely all night long, but is easy to undo in the morning by simply grabbing both sides at your cheeks and giving the sides an outward tug. It's easy to "adjust" too, if you want to loosen it just a bit during the night. Simply use that same outward tug at the cheeks, but very gently.
There's no real "knot" to have to untie in the morning. Nor will there be any annoying knot under the back of your head while you sleep. A double-start knot lays very flat.

In reply to those two links left by the last guest (good find, guest, for those on this thread, thanks), I just wonder if these people were aware of the adjustment wire in the triangular part that holds the pillows. When I first got the Aura and tried it on in the daytime to see how it worked, I was starting to get upset because no matter how I adjusted the headgear or straps, it was leaking like a sieve. Then by luck I found the wire that you can turn and mold any way you want and, voila, leak free.
When I hear that it leaks like that no matter what, I wonder if it's just a matter of adjusting that wire. If not, it could be, as RG said in one of those posts in the linked thread, that these people do, indeed, need an extra large set of pillows. But we all know masks of any type don't work for everyone. That's why I always include that disclaimer in my opinions about a mask. I have used it now for five nights and there are absolutely no leaks. I was shocked when I woke up this morning at 10 AM!!! I never sleep that late. I am also now starting to back sleep, which is not great for snoring, but my index is always under 0.something. I'm very, very pleased with Aura so far, five out of five nights. It has a perfect track record with me.

My hardly used Aura is for sale! PM me if you want it!

NB Obviously I didn't get on with it too well or I wouldn't be selling it. I use the breeze (Lori's old one) and love it! I find that the Aura although very comfortable gives me a feeling of restriction on the flow of air, whereas the breeze is the exact opposite, not quite as comfortable, but loads of air always there LOL

SC,
Welcome back! Either I haven't visited any posts you've written in awhile or you've been ignoring us all. Hope all is well with you.
So the old Breeze is still your favorite, eh? I will bet you will sell this Aura in no time. There are a few people out there thinking about getting one. I know you said it was too hot to wear in your opinion in warm weather, but I didn't know you had any other problem with it than that. Sorry to hear you're unhappy with yours.
Hope things are okay by you and that we see more of you again on the boards. Take care.
