can't get use to mask(s)

Post by jersey city » Tue Aug 11, 2009 12:34 pm

This is a great forum! I am new to this whole CPAP situation for a few months now. I have tried different masks, different styles (4 of them)...everything from nose pillows, full face, slim line, etc. I am a very active sleeper and generally land on my stomache.

I can't seem to keep the mask on for more than 3-4 hours before removing it in my sleep.

Any suggestions?

Much appreciate the feedback, I SOOO want to have a good night's sleep.

thanks!

How well is your mask adjusted? Are you constantly having to fiddle with it or do you just mask up and fall right to sleep? What's your mainstay mask right now?

Rooster has posted on sleeping in the Falcon position (tummy) with a CPAP mask (do a search, I got errands to run right now or I'd post a link). You might try the mask he wears; he's posted on it too.

I had this one handy. Not sure if this is the one you were thinking of but only one I have.

I'd suggest trying a different mask.

I am having the same problem. The head gear moves with the tube (hose) and gets dislodged. I am an active in my sleep as I have RLS. The tube is the problem I think. It should be small thin and very long so one can move with it. If I find one I will post it for sure.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Someone suggested taping the mask to my face. Worked like a charm--The tape pulled when I tried to take the mask off, and I woke myself up. It only took 2 nights, and I'm not taping anymore, and I'm not taking it off.

removing mask in sleep is common for new users so you arent doing all that badly

simply tape mask to face so the pain will remind you to leave it on

CPAP users often sleep on their stomachs
