Resmed S8
Resmed S8
I've heard rumors that this machine is going to be a really good machine. I am eager to get rid of my current machine, it grinds a lot and I have to replace the filters all the time. Anyone know if it has C-FLEX or is that another companies thing? Whisper quiet or swivel, i don't really know.
How big is it? I was thinking of maybe getting a 420 from Pur. Benn. but I don't really know much about it. Anyone that a friend of a friend gotten to see one or try it out?

Puritan Bennett 420g and Resmed S8???
I haven't heard anything about a Resmed S8. I always like it when new products come out. Anyone have info on this new style machine?
As far as Cflex is concernded, I hear that Respironics has a lock on cflex since they invented it. Perhaps other companies will come out with the same thing with a different name.
I bought a Purtan Bennett 420g from cpap.com last month and it is a lifesaver. It is so small. I have to travel for my job and I was tired of lugging my other machine. It takes up so much room in the overhead compartment of an airplane. The 420g only weighs something like 1.5 lbs and fits in the palm of my hand. It has the built in voltage changer thing. All I have to do is put the right plug adapter on the end and i am good go anywhere, or at least anywhere I have been.
Since 9/11 I am not too keen on travel, especially out of the country. But, the airport security screeners don't ever give me a hard time about my machine. I guess they see a lot of them every day.
I would love to hear more about the Resmed S8. When is it supposed to be released and what can it do?
Foggy

I have the old Sullivan V. Been a great machine for me. Would love to hear about a new machine. Resmed is Sullivan isn't it? So "S" is for Sullivan? They make a good machine. I've seen on some internet sites some smaller machines from Puritan Bennet. But since this Sullivan V has been a good machine, I might really look hard at the new machine, and just HOPE it is small. Is there a particular site you all seem to go to for up to the minute info?

C-flex on a ResMed cpap?
C-flex is a feature of Respironics cpap machines. No way a competitor could use their technology. Unless of course they come up with their own comprable software. I would be interested to see if this machine has something like that.

Resmed makes the S8. It does not have C-Flex as that name is a respironics thing. It does however have EPR(Expiratory Pressure Relief) which is the same principal. I am a Respiratory Therapist that currently works at a DME company and have done a lot of research on C-Flex and EPR and I like EPR alot more than C-Flex. For one thing C-Flex cannot tell you what the settings mean (Ex- level 1,2,3) There is numerical pressure related to the setting. With EPR the level set is the amount in cmH20 of the drop in pressure. If the machine senses that you are having apneas, the EPR turns off for one minute to allow you to compensate for the apnea. C-Flex just keeps dropping, which can cause you to have more and more apneas. The machines we have chosen to use in our company are the Resmed S8 machines that are downloadable with EPR. It does have an integrated heated humidifier that is very easy to fill and use. It is really quality equipment.
