I agree with mattman's approach, tattooyu. Just treat it as a non-event and save yourself anxiety. It all happens very fast, and you do need to pay more attention, IMHO, to collecting the rest of your stuff going through the xray, than worrying about a germ getting on your cpap with their process. Take clorox or lysol wipes, and clean it up later if you feel the need. I put the tag on my bag, but I just tell the first official at the xray line "this is a cpap" --and they whisk it away to do their thing. This is not new to them.
I would not bother with encasing the machine in a ziplock, as it will just increase your hassle. In most cases, I've found they do swab the thing in the US, so the cpap will have to be removed from the ziplock. If you're squeemish about the bins, just take a grocery bag to put under it in the bin. Leave the humidifier in your carry-bag with mask & hose, and put it through the xray altogether. I always keep a copy of the "RX" in my bag, but it has never been necessary.
Have a great trip! And don't forget an extension cord and a surge protector.
