Rent battery pack for CPAP?

Post by sleepyintucson » Thu Sep 15, 2005 10:18 am

I would like to have a battery pack for my cpap to use on the plane for a very long flight. I don't want to pay $250 for one just to use it once. Anyone know where I could rent one?

thanks

Joel

you could purchase a gel battery at many outlets for about $30 . The accessory outlet will cost about $7 at radio shack .

This thould work for you. You may find it for less $ at a feed store or other outlet. The charger may be costly . you may rig a connection to your cpap power supply to charge this battery.

Thanks, but from what I have read, I will need a much higher output battery (Amp hours?). The highest one listed there costs almost as much as the battery pack sold on cpap.com. I just don't want to pay $250 for something I will use twice. Anyone want to buy a used battery pack for $200?

Sleepy,
Chrisp is right. Buy a small 18 - 20 Ah (sealed) battery. Respironics & PB mahines use about 0.7 amps, so if you conservatively say you have 10 Ah to play with you might expect about 15 hours between charges. You can purchase an inexpensive charger for about $20. Don't expect to run a heated humidifier however!

Where are you going ? Have you looked at http://www.seatguru.com to learn about your flight . Its a great site to look at BEFORE booking .

How much are you willing to pay to rent a battery and what size in amp hrs and weight do you require ?

These people rent Cpap batteries. http://www.thebatterygeeks.com/default.asp . I have not done business with them.
