Forum Login Problem
Re: Forum Login Problem
On FF check Tools > Options> on Privacy tab insure that "Accept Cookies from Sites" is checked
Then select "Exceptions" button and using the scroll bar on the right scroll down to check that "cpaptalk dot com" is NOT set to block cookies. On mine it is listed under "www.cpaptalk dot com" but check both - with and w/o the www. The sites are listed in numeric-alpha order where the numbers come FIRST then letters.
If it was set to "Block" click on the site so it's hi-lited then select "Remove Site" - Select "OK" to exit then Refresh the forum page when you get the cookie message do NOT select "Block Cookie" or you will get the same problem all over again.
REFRESH page is a MUST.
You can delete just the cookie for cpaptalk this way; so as not to mess up all your other surfing settings.

Re: Forum Login Problem
I use a Mac ... FireFox 3.5.1.
Each time I tried to log on, it would flash a screen showing I was logged on, then flash to another screen showing I was NOT logged on.
When trying to register in order to log on ... the data I was supposed to copy wasn't even there!
I think I've got it working right by going to Tools>Page Info>Permissions>then un-checking "Set Cookies". This then blocks the cookies from cpaptalk.com.
When I refreshed the page, I came back logged on.
Jan
UPDATE ...
After quitting FF and re-launching it ... I found that it did not keep my log on information the way it was supposed to. It did however allow me to at least log on without a problem.

Re: Forum Login Problem
Had the same problem yesterday, must have been a problem with the website.
Noticing, too, that the cpaptalk webpage never seems to finish loading--the IE symbol just keeps on spinning while the "waiting for . . ." message displays at the bottom of the page.

Same for me -- IE, no code, and deleting cookies.Velbor wrote:Same problem yesterday afternoon, but with IE. Whatever it was, it affected more than Firefox users. And yet I could see that other members continued to post. When I tried to post despite not being logged in, the system asked me to enter the code from an image box - but the image did not display. I sent an email to cpap dot com, but no response. I also finally stumbled upon the solution of deleting cpaptalk cookies, and then everything was fine.

I've had that particular problem for many months. Wonder if it's an IE thing.RipVW wrote:

Re: Forum Login Problem
The loading issue doesn't show up in FireFox, so the website issue appears to be a problem with their code that prevents something from loading in IE, I think.plr66 wrote:I've had that particular problem for many months. Wonder if it's an IE thing.RipVW wrote:

Re: Forum Login Problem
Deleted all cookies related to cpap.com, cpapauction.com, cpaptalk.com in Firefox 3.5. May have to check and see if there are some with "www.----.com" relating to the site. Closed browser. Did hard reboot (powered system down due to t-storms in the area), then rebooted.
Had to relog in to two other sites of frequent. Tried to log into CPAPTALK.COM, and got the same-old, same-old: I appear to be logged in, and then it takes me to the main page of the Forum, and I am NOT logged in.
However, this morning, I could, again, get in using that miserable slow excuse for a browser, MSIE 8, and was able to log in just fine.

Re: Forum Login Problem
I meant to post this yesterday, and forgot to do so. I resorted to using my "Welcome" email from cpaptalk to ask the administrators for help. Here's the email sent by Carolyn:
"I am sorry you are encountering this problem. We had some other users contact me on Friday with this same problem. We have not yet found the cause of the issue. I have my developer working on this.
I saw that you cleared your cookies. It has also helped if you also clear you cache. We are still working on the problem and hope to resolve it soon.
Also, if you have another browser you use, like FireFox, we have found that the secondary browser does not have the same problems. I apologize for the inconvenience."
Regards,
Carolyn Goodman

Re: Forum Login Problem
Yep! Me, too (last evening).
Clicked on the "Login".......Entered my user name and password.......screen came back showing me being logged in.......but, then when it went to the "Home" page for CPAPTALK, it came back with the "Login" showing instead of my user name.
I use Firefox almost exclusively, so I cleaned out EVERYTHING related to Cookies, Cache ("Temporary Internet Files") and "Clear Private Data".
Then I restarted Firefox and it let me stay logged in.

Re: Forum Login Problem
I got bit, too! I don't think it's totally a cookie thing, because the problem happened on all three of the computers I access CPAPTalk; work, Desktop at home and laptop. The work comp is a completely different network.
They all stopped working on Friday. I d/led CCleaner, as advised earlier in this thread and now THIS machine works. My work comp might be a problem as I don't have Administrator rights on it. We'll see what happens after the site is troubleshot.

Re: Forum Login Problem
I reported the problem to admin on Friday. Of course I had to login using IE in the meantime.jdm2857 wrote:I am finding that since earlier this evening, I cannot successfully log in to the forum using FIrefox v3.0.12
I enter my username and password on the login screen, it is accepted, and in the light blue bar at the top of the screen, the word "login" is replaced by "logout [myuserid]" as usual.
But when the home page reappears, I am no longer logged in, and the light blue bar again reads "login".
I am able to access the fourm normally using IE v8.0.6001.18702.
I figured someone at cpaptalk.com would want to know.

This is the tip that finally worked for me.TheDreamer wrote:Thanks for this post....I also had the problem. Tried the "Delete all board" cookies link, but that didn't work.
But, after reading this thread.... I pulled up "page info" and only deleted those cookies...and that was enough to get me back on.
I kind of like the cookies for all the sites I visit.....
