ResScan 3.7 with usb adapter and 64-bit Vista

Post by gertrude-mcfuzz » Sat Jul 25, 2009 11:48 am

Hello,

Is anybody running ResScan 3.7, using a usb adapter under 64-bit Vista? The driver for the usb adapter won't seem to install correctly for me, and I'm wondering if it's a 64-bit problem? If not, does anybody have any pointers to get it to work? (in searching the forms, I see a lot of pointers for getting the card reader to work, but not the usb adapter)

Thanks in advance!
kk

What error(s) are you getting? What adapter are you using? What version of the driver do you have?

When I install the driver, it comes back immediately and says it was successful (too immediately to believe it). When I connect the device, it says it needs to install the driver. If I have it look on the disk for the driver, it says it can't find it, and the install is unsuccessful. If I try the ResScan software, it can't see the device. Also, in Device Manager, it says there is no driver installed.

The adapter I have just says ResScan USB. Device Manager says S8 USB Adapter SN 008466. I'm not sure how to find out the version of the driver, since it's not installed.

There are 2 parts to the S8 adapter: 1) the adapter that plugs into the back of the S8 and 2) the cable that connects the adapter to the USB port on the computer. DO NOT have the S8 connected to the PC while installing the driver.

I had a problem when the USB was plugged into the PC before running ResScan. I waited until I was ready to download and then plugged it in; but I don't have an S8.

The USB cable wasn't plugged into the computer when I installed the driver.

I was able to install it successfully on another (Windows XP) computer. This leads me to believe that my problem is Vista 64-bit -- I'd really like to hear from anyone who's successfully installed it on Vista.

On my XP computer, the driver says it is version 4.28.0.2700 (date of 12/16/04).
I bought the software from CpapAustralia.com.

Thanks for any advice....

I would check the website of the manufacture to see if there are any updates to their software or drivers. Also, have you tried running it under the compatibility mode? That might help with your problem as well. Seeing as how it is a 32 bit version of the software, and drivers, I'm surprised that it isn't placing the stuff in the correct folders.

I've checked resmed.com, but they don't seem to have any drivers for download at all. I wouldn't know where else to look.

Is running in compatibility mode something you do with Vista? How do you do that?

You should be able to do that by just right clicking on the icon for the program, go down to the properties, a window will open that has 5 tabs. General, Shortcut, Compatibility, Security, and Details. Left click on the Compatibility tab, then place a check mark in the box where it says: Run this program in compatibility mode for: and leave Windows XP (Service Pack 2) as the selected mode.

Try that and see what happens

I suspect you have an older set of drivers. Mine are dated 5/30/05.

I also found this as well, but I'm sure you followed these directions:

Installing ResScan USB Adapter Driver

You must install the ResScan Software before attempting to install the USB Adapter. The software driver must be installed before connecting the ResScan USB Adapter and cable to your computer. Once the ResScan Software is installed, a link within the Windows Start button will install the USB Adapter driver. Click on the Windows Start button and then look for:

ResMed>ResScan>Drivers>ResScan USB Adapter

Click the Install button on the Install Driver dialog box to install the USB Adapter driver.

Are you referring to...

1. An ResScan card reader which is attached to the PC via the cpative USB cable to the card reader?

or

2. A USB adapter fitted to the back of an S8 flow generator in place of the ResScan card slot and is connected directly to a PC via a USB cable connection?

If its #1, then it definitely does work with Vista x64, as that is what I use .

Cheers,

Bill

The ResMed card reader is an ACR38 from ACS. (If you don't believe me, turn the reader over.)

You can find the latest drivers here: http://www.acs.com.hk/drivers-manual.php?driver=ACR38

Choose either the PC/SC MSI installer version or the plain PC/SC version for your OS.
