WHEW!!--What a pain!! My experience since last night is a ditto of every word Velbor said here. I have IE, and attempted to remove cookies both by the board and by using Tools...several times. Apparently I finally hit on holding my mouth right.Velbor wrote:Same problem yesterday afternoon, but with IE. Whatever it was, it affected more than Firefox users. And yet I could see that other members continued to post. When I tried to post despite not being logged in, the system asked me to enter the code from an image box - but the image did not display. I sent an email to cpap dot com, but no response. I also finally stumbled upon the solution of deleting cpaptalk cookies, and then everything was fine.

Re: Forum Login Problem
I had the problem yesterday with both IE and FF. Very aggravating, especially when seeing that others were still posting. Seems to be fixed this morning and I didn't do anything to cookies.
Re: Forum Login Problem
Same thing happened here with Google Chrome; however, the "fix" was the same which was to toss out the cookie and allow a new one to be created.
Something on the site changed to cause this issue as it is not browser specific and not caused by the browser.
It would be nice if someone from cpap.com weighed in on this thread.

Re: Forum Login Problem
I'm guessing the problem affected users with any browser who had previously set up automatic log in. That would cause the site to create a cookie with username and password. Since I normally use Firefox, it already had a cookie set up that did not work.
When I switched to IE, which did not already have a site cookie, it worked fine, even when I requested automatic log in, because it was creating a new cookie. Something in the cookie format changed. The data stored in a cookie is totally under the control of the creating website. (And the browser only allows the creating website to access the cookie, so that other sites can't see the data stored in another site's cookie.)
So much talk about cookies, now I'm hungry! Cooookieee! Cooookieee!

Re: Forum Login Problem
Ditto to everything in this thread. I normally use Firefox (current version is 3.5) and have no trouble. Even deleting cookies didn't help. I am able to get in using IE8, which I hate.
Firefox was fine yesterday morning; when I got in from work and fired up Firefox, I couldn't get in. Reset my password 2-3 times. Deleted all cookies using CookieCuller that related to CPAP.COM, CPAPAUCTION.COM and CPAPTALK.COM, and no joy.
Figures this would happen on a Friday. Why in the blue-blinking h-lls do people roll out an upgrade right before the weekend?

Re: Forum Login Problem
I'm using Firefox 3.51 and no amount of cookie cleaning (CCleaner) made a difference. I even used the Firefox extension Close 'n Forget, which removes cookies for the current site. I'm logged in using IE8 now, and it probably works because I've never used it before. What a pain....

Re: Forum Login Problem
You should need crap cleaner or a fancy extension. Just delete cookies for cpap.com on Tools->Options->Privacy tab, then immediately click the "Delete all board cookies" link from the bottom of the cpaptalk.com page, then click the Login link at the top of the page and login. It's worked on all three computers I have with FF.twokatmew wrote:I'm using Firefox 3.51 and no amount of cookie cleaning (CCleaner) made a difference. Just didn't work for me until about the 5th or 6th try.
But it looks like everybody's coming back on today.

Re: Forum Login Problem
Finally! That worked. IE8 is soooo slow, it's a pain. Thanks!

I think you have to do two pirouettes before logging in after you get the cookies deleted.Guested wrote:Thought it was fixed but it's still squrilly. Got to be the site. all else is well. Can't auto log in. did see the code this time for guested Goofproof. PITA.
