Aura and the Perfect Night.
I am running very late for work this morning, so just a quick note.
Last night was the first night with my Aura interface. I have to say, I was up at 1:30 AM - 2 AM with my son who is grieving the loss of his friend who was killed in an auto accident on Friday night at the tender age of 19. My son has spent the past four days at either a memorial at the site of his crash, two days and nights at the wake and yesterday the funeral and his family's home. Needless to say, at 19 years old, my son was a bit overstressed and upset.
In any event, on to the information. Aura produced the following results, besides being literally THE most comfortable mask/interface I've ever used:
AHI - Z E R O !!!!! I had no apnea or hypopnea events. It cut my 8.0 snore index down to 2.5. I had an entire compliance time last night of 7 hours and 17 minutes, so not bad.
This is the first time since starting therapy in the first week of June that I had absolutely no events at all. How is that possible that an interface can produce such results? I have no idea. Michael, another poster on this site, is having the same results with his Aura that I believe he's been using for four nights now. Not zero, but his numbers, too, have been reduced greatly.
So for my first comment after one night's use, I LOVE THE AURA. Comfortable, good seal, NO SWOOSH MARKS ON THE FACE this morning, sealed great, side sleeping is heaven, and the bonus that it gave me incredible results on the software. I was almost afraid to look because after I was with my son at 2 AM, I couldn't fall asleep and took a Clonazepam (which I hate to do because it affects my readings negatively and knocks me out) and even with that in my system, I had a 0 AHI.
Have a great day all. I just can't believe I found something out of the box that works this well. I am just praying it lasts...

Re: Aura and the Perfect Night.
It is great to hear about your success with a new interface, Lori. I also started treatment in June but not having much improvement. I think I'll try this mask too. Who manufactures it?
So sorry to hear about your son's friend and what your son is going through in the grief period. It is really hard on teens I think because they feel they are so immortal at that age. I had a good friend die in a car accident at 16 years so I know what it is like. Unforgettable. Give him lots of hugs (and one from me too).

Isn't it amazing how important a mask is! Let us know how things progress. Hopefully your son's involvement with his friend's grieving family will help him deal with the loss of his friend. My suggestions for you would be to become a really good listener when he talks to you, and remember your son and his friends family specifically in your prayers. Do not forget to ask for guidance and include yourself in your prayers, since you too are worried about your own son!

FF,
Thanks so much for your kindness. I am sorry to hear you had to go through this yourself at such a young age. I will definitely be there for him, as I have been, with lots of kisses and hugs (and one from you, too ).
Capt,
Thank you, too, for caring. I know that just listening right now is important. I sometimes am at a loss for words (if you can believe that) as to how to make him not hurt as much, but I think only time and God's help can take care of that. We spent about a half-hour last night after he woke me up talking, although it's so fresh still that it's hard to know if anything I said or did helped. I guess just knowing he has someone to lean on does. I told him to make sure he tells his professors in college why he missed class Monday and they should understand why he may not be in top form right now. I hope he listens.
R&R, FF and Capt,
I truly was amazed at how well the Aura worked (by the way, it's made by Aeimed and is on this site, where I purchased it, too). If you side sleep, I can't imagine anything better. The main problem I found with the Breeze was that the headgear was unstable and too heavy. You don't even know you have this one on, it's so light. When you turn, it stays put, which shocked the you-know-what out of me. I don't want to get crazy yet as one night does not an accurate assessment make, so I will just wait and see how it goes tonight and all the nights in the next few days. If I have nights like I did last night, boy, have I found my mask.
And, R&R, as you wrote, you KNOW I will keep you all posted.

I've been harping on how great the aura is for months and only now you want to try it? LOL
I'm glad to see Lori loves it like I do.
Give it a try!

R&R,
The last thing I want to see a tea drinking Texan stud like yourself do is put pantyhose or liners on your face. No way, no how.
Funny how so far, I can't see there being a need to do any deconstruction/reconstruction on the Aura. Fit my head fine. The rubber padding under the lockbox doesn't bother me at all so far, or at least last night, and it stayed pretty well put. Turning side to side was a shock that it didn't wobble or move in any direction; hence, the rubber padding, I would think. And the fact that it's lightweight, too, was a plus.
Like I said, of course I will let you know how it goes tonight. You do remember, though, that some posters on this site didn't like it and don't use it. I remember Sir Cumference saying it was hot for him to wear and will save it for the cooler weather (what happened to Sir???). So, AS I ALWAYS SAY, what works for one perosn doesn't always work for another. What may work for me may not for you, although we do have the same two other masks that we use, the Activa (which I rarely used anymore) and the Swift (my maybe former favorite). I will keep in touch.

Wading,
I think Aura's popularity is going to grow now that people are trying it and are voicing positive comments about it. Rested Gal, whose opinions I value tremendously, has been saying it's her #1 since I've been on this site. Do you still love yours the way you did when you first got it or did things start to happen for you after a little while of use? Any tips you may care to share? Did you have to reconstruct yours at all or are you an out-of-the-box wearer, too?
Sorry for all the quetions. I've got a million of them usually. This time is no different.

Lori,
I got mine the very first moment it was available and have used it "as is" out of the box every night since. The only tip I can give on the subject of the aura is to get one and use it... but you have already done that.
I did make a polar fleece "sock" to cover the pigtail hose.

I'm a back sleeper (mostly) and I can't even tell it's on. If you can lay on your pillow with a baseball cap on you can use the aura.WAFlowers wrote:The Aura certainly looks perfect for a side sleeper but I spend approximately half the night on my back; the rest split between each side. How is it for a back sleeper?
Remarkably, you can even sleep on your stomach with the aura. The exhaust exits straight up at the forehead so you can bury your face in the pillow.

Bill, take this from where it comes, a one-night user of an Aura but I cannot see any position of sleep being a problem at all. If this goes the way it seems like it will, I'm so sorry I waited this long. But I will not allow myself to get too psyched yet as I don't want to jinx myself. Yes, I am superstitious to some degree.
Wading, thanks for the great reply. So you, too, didn't have to deconstruct and reconstruct it. I hope it stays as good as it was last night. From what you say, I may actually stand a chance at having that happen.
