Sorry,
I missed this when I first scanned the forums
viewtopic/t43532/Letter-to-Customers-CP ... hange.html
In the words of Emily Litella, "nevermind".
https://www.cpap.com/DisplayNewsletter/77
To Our Customers,
We have important news, here's what you should know:
1. You now need a prescription to purchase masks, humidifiers and machines online.
2. With your permission, we can obtain your prescription from your doctor.
Here are the full details:
We now require prescriptions to be on file before any machine, mask, or humidifier may be shipped. This is because the Food and Drug Administration classifies masks and humidifiers along with machines as Class II Medical Devices, which require a prescription.
We at CPAP.com believe, like many of our customers, that this will deter some people from getting the treatment they need and deserve. While we disagree with the classification, we are a company incorporated in the United States of America that falls under the authority of the FDA. Therefore, we must abide by these regulations and have updated our prescription policy accordingly.
We fully recognize the inconvenience this policy places on many of our customers. We want to offer you the option of having CPAP.com "do the work" on your behalf. To this end, we have created an automated prescription request system, which will enable us to request prescriptions from your doctor. All you need to do is provide us with the doctor's contact information. This can be done as you place your next order. Or if you prefer, you may contact us beforehand so the prescription will be ready for you.

If you have a machine prescription on file with cpap.com, that covers masks and humidfiers too, according to Johnny Goodman's letter.

Johnny, does that mean the many internet suppliers who currently sell masks without a
prescription are ....hold onto your hat...BREAKING THE LAW?
And how will this travesty be enforced?

We have to think about letter writing. It must be very carefully and thoughtfully composed. Since our reach is limited, we must also think about whom to address the letters to.
Just offhand, I am thinking about addressing the three sleep docs I currently have a relationship with, the ENT who performed my nasal airway surgery, and one of my U.S. Representatives who has sponsored some successful bills for me in the past (Not that this will take a bill. I understand it is a rule promulgated by the FDA that they have the authority to change.) .
I will also ask some of my doctor friends for advice on whom to address.
I may write a separately composed letter to my ENT who just finished a four-year term as chair of an FDA panel.

I never could get mine to upload. I think you are going to have to e-mail it or fax it. They list the other to options.

It took a bunch of tries to get it to upload....I'm not even sure how I got it to work....though I know I tried a couple different browsers, including IE.
Basically, once I didn't get an error, it was up. A little while later I got email confirming receipt of it. (July 2nd at 11:57pm - "Fax Received for ....") Next day at 7:12am, I got a "Fax Received ... " email from cpapauction that I can now bid of CPAP and APAP machines.

Hi,
I was very successful uploading my script. I scanned it on my scanner and saved it to my hard drive as a "pdf" file. I then just up-loaded the pdf to them per their instructions. I received confirmation and was up and running.
Note: Save the "pdf" as a gray scale file to keep the size below the 3mb file size limit.

So doe this make it illegal for me to give away my father's old CPAP? I know there are people out there who need them and are not insured -- I would hate to see a perfectly good machine go to waste.

I guess we will get arrested for trading masks.
