Nope -- yours ain't the only one.
My sleep doc is/was excellent, open, understanding and let me control my treatment.
I say was because she retired for a time to raise her family -- I haven't gone to the doc she referred me to yet, but I'm hoping she'll be back before I have to try to train another one.....

New Encore site?? Nice, but so what???

cheers

Oh, by the way Slinky, I have started not covering the Blue Lights and when I close my eyes they do go away and when I get up for my mid night potty break I can see to not step on the dogs who sleep next to my bed.

Hi Jerry - bet your dogs are happy you don't step on them anymore

btw, Encore software works just fine on Vista as long as it's 32-bit Vista, not 64-bit.

I am on a simular program (CARELINK) for monitoring my Medtronic defibulator, and it's faulty heart leads, basically it's a modem device that transmits the data stored in my defibulator to the CARELINK OFFICE located where??? (Maybe China) They send a report to my doctor. Normally the doctor checked it at his office every 90 days, now I do the Carelink thing every other time, making me see him twice a year. At least it transfers useful data, not just compliance data. Although I doubt if it's more useful after all.

Today they made a firmware change in it to set off a alarm (in me) for 30 seconds every three hours, if the leads fail. I imagine the the device firing will let me know when it fails. Not in a good way. Having it implanted is by far the worst decision medically I ever made. Jim

Yep, they don't run everytime I roll over now!! Everything I have looked at lately in the computer line has had Vista Home Premium. Isn't it 64 Bit? I was under the impression that Vista Home was the only 32 Bit. I think I can still get a 32 bit from Dell and order it that way or go to their business line which I think still offers XP at least for a while.

Anyone know if the ReScan 3.5 will run on Vista 64 bit?

Jerry

Jerry - I have Vista Ultimate on one laptop and when I installed it there was a screen asking if I wanted 64-bit or 32-bit. I picked 64-bit (ouch - wish I hadn't). But my other laptop has Vista Business 32-bit and Encore works fine.

She called immediately (within an half hour) when I left a message about the first DME setting my machine up incorrectly (in split night mode for first two hours). At my appointments, she is very interested in my data and helping me understand what it means. She is supportive of me taking control of my therapy and adjusting settings. The nurse-practitioner in her office is also very good.

I can understand that there are a bunch of rotten apples out there, but I can't believe she's the only good one! Anyone else satisfied with their doc? (No, Babs, you don't get to chime in cause she's your sleep doc, too!!!!! )
Wow, you and Babs are blessed with a superhuman sleep doc. I didn't even get to see a sleep doc after my first titration in 2003. The tech gave me a letter with my prescription with brochures from various DMEs and that was it. In 2006, I asked to get re-titrated and insisted to see the doctor because the lab titration put my pressure at 9 whereas borrowing an apap gave me 2 weeks of data that said I needed 13 so I wanted to see what the doctor had to say about it. He had no idea but wrote me a new prescription for 13. This year I went back to see him again because it had been 5 years and I wanted a prescription for a new xpap. He wrote it and sent me on my way. I've never heard from him since. My family doctor, who suspect sleep apnea in the first place, is a wonderful woman but admits that she knows nothing about it so we don't discuss it.

My only place for information was my DME for the first few years before I discovered this place. They were actually pretty good then (now they've been swallowed up by a large DME company with crappy policies and service). Now I rely on you guys

I'm very new at this, but my primary care physician is quite interested, and while the service where I got my equipment has some "passively interested" folks working there, my insistence on what I wanted led to finding one guy (who specializes in orthotics, but was available) who was really on the ball and too the time to work with me (the RT there is only part time, by appointment). The orthotics guy also was interested in hearing about cpaptalk.com...wish there were more like him.

Does anyone know if Encore 2 provides any new features/enhancements over version 1 (other than Vista Compatibility)?

I have Vista Home Premium on my computer - 32 bit. My Encore Viewer software runs fine on it.
