Machine adjustments

Post by rocket22 » Wed Jul 15, 2009 9:18 pm

I have a respironics BiPAP Auto M series can anyone tell me how to adjust the airflow settings. I went to take it back today and the lady at the sleep clinic said my intake number was 17 when the normal numbers she said she sees are between 9 and 10. She wouldn't adjust it for me without a doctors authorization but recommended this site for the answer.

find the adjustment directions for any auto M series (don't know exactly what they are or have them in front of me)... the only thing that'll be different will be the menu options.

Make sure that you make notes of everything before you change anything.

I wouldn't change anything, especially on a BiPAP, until I understood all of the settings and exactly why I was making the changes.

I'll second that. Once in the menu, step through all the settings and record them on paper.

What does your prescription state for IPAP and EPAP?

I, too, am interested in the answer to this question, so I'm posting to bump it back up to the top. Thanks!

1 Unplug the power plug above the filter.
2 Open the display cover and hold down the 2 back buttons while plugging the power back in.
Hold the buttons down for a second or so 'till it "beeps".
3 Press the front right button.
4 Use the back buttons to scroll to "in" or "out" pressures, and the front buttons to adjust pressure.
5 Press the middle blue button to set and exit.
My pressures were 20 / 18 and I couldn't keep a seal on the mask, so I went down to 12 / 10 and worked my way back up. I sleep much better at the original pressures, but I had to do a lot of carving on the flanges of my FP 431 and trimming of the silicone seal bottom edge to get it to fit my poochy high cheek bones. I also use an old piece of 1,3/8" leather belt under the bottom head strap to keep it from cutting into my neck. The setup looks like crap, but it is very comfortable for such a tight fit!
Good luck and good sleeping!
