My DME story. Mercedes vs. Lexus

Post by snamvar » Thu Jan 06, 2005 8:23 pm

After getting my prescription from Stanford sleep center, I went to the only DME my insurance accepts in San Jose. This was Brannons Medical.
They gave me a Remstar Plus with heated humidifier and a Comfort Gel mask. They charged me an additional $86.00 for the mask (beside co-pay of $141 for CPAP and mask), saying that the insurance covers so much for the mask
I found it difficult to breath against the pressure of 8 and called them for the C-flex. They told me that "I already have a Lexus and I am asking for a Mercedes". My insurance pays so match for the CPAP machine. I had to pay an additional $450 to get Remstar Plus with C-flex I did cough up the $450.
I then found this forum by accident and became aware of the DME scandal.
I now understand why my DME compared different CPAPs to Lexus and Merceds. The owner can buy a Mercedes instead of Lexus by overcharging people like me Shame on them.
I don't do mornings !!!
