I-got-my-cpap-elsewhere-friendly-technician?

Post by don331 » Mon Jul 13, 2009 3:44 pm

Hello All,

Did my sleep study and I have apnea! I'm exciting about getting my cpap.. but funds are limited. So frankly, I was thinking about getting the unit from cpap.com versus the Dr-who-did-the-sleep-study's-STORE-next-door.

Outside of taking a bunch more $$$ out of my wallet, the Dr's- STORE offers a tech to set up my machine, show me around, etc. The personal touch is nice.

So, are there any Houston-Area Respiratory techs that are friendly to folks who got their cpap elsewhere? I have no problem paying for their SERVICES, I just don't want to pay keystone price for the HARDWARE!

Thanks!!

Don

Don,

CPAP.COM is in Houston. They may have some "walk-in" services.
On the other hand, if you can "read" (the instructions), you can set up your machine......all the manuals will come with it.
Hint: It's easier than programming many other electronic devices.
Many of us avoided the brick & mortar DMEs and ordered from CPAP.COM.
Just make sure you have your prescription (the physical document).

Hello & Welcome, don331! Glad you found this forum—SO much useful info and everyone here is so willing to help!

You're lucky to have found this forum as you begin CPAP--took me almost year before I found this place and, with the help of folks here, got my CPAP therapy working as it should. It does take time to get everything tweaked and working at its best, so patience is key as one begins CPAP.

I'll bet cpap.com will be able to help you!

Don.

Hey, you're lucky! Even though it sometimes seems like you're headed for another country getting from one side of Houston to the other, you're in the same city as CPAP.COM.

Check out this, from their website:

https://www.cpap.com/simple-find-cpap-p ... tance.html

This service is appropriate for customers new to sleep treatment equipment. It is not recommended for experienced patients that are compliant on their sleep treatment equipment.

The service is available for any sleep disordered patient who wants it. The equipment does not need to be purchased from cpap.com although we certainly want to earn your business.

Follow up services for new cpap and bilevel patients are universally recommended by physicians and cpap manufacturers to improve patient compliance and treatment effectiveness. We highly recommend this service for anyone who is beginning therapy.

or, follow up with an RT! Service is similar: it just costs a little more.
