Boy does my hair look stupid.

My hair looks like I've had elastic straps wrapped around my head all night. Oh yeah, I did. Even after washing thoroughly, still looks somewhat ridiculous.

I don't suppose this subject has been covered somewhere...

Any solutions other than cutting it off or mousse?

I'm using a PapCap with my nasal mask attached with the straps on the cap. Seems that my hair is not as messed in the mornings.

Well many people who don't use CPAP have stupid looking hair, so I doubt anyone on the street will notice.

You should take up motorcycling like I did 20 years ago. Almost everyone doing that has stupid looking (helmet) hair, so you'll feel right at home in that crowd.

Unlike motorcycling though, I wash my hair within minutes of waking up and "going public" with my blower hair ("hose head"?) so it isn't much of an issue. As if my hair could look any sillier to my wife in the morning anyway .... (bitter laughter).

On the bike, you have to put up with funny looks from other people in the restaurant. hmmm, maybe that's how bikers got their unique reputation ..... (more bitter laughter)

Rooster is right, those silken head caps that bikers wear under their helmets work very well. I've got a couple myself but I'm past caring these days really ....

What stumps me is that you can't fully rescue your hair even after washing it.

I would try to make sure that your hair stays in the proper general direction under the mask straps, just flatter.

Maybe you could try "Gee, Your Hair Smells Teriffic."

Let your hair grow until it's long enough to pull into a ponytail on the top of your head. Works for me.

The guy who cuts my hair tells me its because the hair gets "trained" to go a certain way by either sleeping on it that way or from headgear straps, or whatever. He tells me to help "retrain" hair to go in the proper direction, before bed wet the hair slightly, comb it to go the way you want and then apply paper tape over that spot to keep it flat. Too much effort for me. I just get my hair cut shorter.

Of course we're talking about keratin crosslinking as a result of the ultra-high cysteine content of this abundant cytoskeletal protein. It's pretty clear that blowers induce a different molecular conformational change resulting in a more persistent, water-resistant type of disulfide bridging, as opposed to the less rigid architecture induced in hot, humid hair by wearing a motorcycle helmet. There's a paper in J Invest Dermatol there somewhere ....
