Tolerating the Mask During the Summer

Post by rubymom » Thu Jun 25, 2009 3:24 pm

I'm wondering what experiences people have with wearing a ffm during the heat of summer? I've been thinking about it a bit lately but it hasn't been too warm yet. Today I took a nap after work and had the air conditioner on plus a fan blowing in my face and couldn't tolerate the mask. Just too hot. Any ideas?

If you must use the FFM, I would recommend Remzzzs mask liners. They seem to help me with this, making the mask feel less plastic-y and absorbing perspiration. If you can experiment with other mask types, you might want to try what I came up with for my ultimate solution, which was to switch to the Nasal Aire II. It's a little tricky learning to use it, but it gets all that equipment off your face.

I was just going to suggest the Nasal Aire II.

I run a free test-drive for it, if you'd like to try the mask out. Check out my links below in my signature block, and PM me if you're interested.

Cheers,
Barbara

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

So far, no heat-related problems with aFFM. Overall comfort problems a much bigger concern, and a decentr air conditioner solved much of that problem. Proper humidity setting varies significantly with the weather. I need to devlop a table that relates weather conditions to proper humidity setting.
