Open mouth insert "tape"

Post by johncuse48 » Thu Jun 18, 2009 7:57 pm

I have using a ComfortGel Nasal mask and I like it but my wife told me that while I am sleeping I open my mouth and begin to snore . To solve the problem I have been using duct tape to keep my mouth shut until my next visit with my pulmonary doctor. When I see him I cna get a script for a chin strap
Breath easy,

Well, a chin strap might work, but if it doesn't, you've already found out that tape can be effective.

You might want to try some other types of tape that hold very well, but could be a tad easier on the skin than duct tape....

3M paper tape.

Blue painter's tape for delicate surfaces.

Those are a couple you might want to try.

But hey, if duct tape doesn't bother you, do whatever works for you!

Yow! Duct tape? You're a braver soul than me!

my tape method is to get cloth tape for wounds, called sticking plaster here but has other names elsewhere

get long strip, double back at each end to make tear off strips, roll lips inward so tape goes on skin above and below lips, as tape can eventually damage the lips

you need a chinstrap of some type to remind you to keep mouth shut but they seldom stop mouth breathing as the lips can part slightly in sleep

a chisntrap can be bought or made up from a roll of elastic or pantyhose by tying it together
