IMPORTANT INFO ... SPO7500 ... Vista 64, Windows 7 Users

Post by janp » Fri Jun 05, 2009 1:58 pm

My husband has been in touch with the company that writes the software Vitascore/Vitabase used with the SPO7500 for the past couple of months regarding 64 bit compatibility.

As you are aware, TEMEC (out of the Netherlands) released a driver for Vista 64 a short while ago.

The following email from a TEMEC engineer is a delayed response regarding the status of their efforts in bringing their software into the 64 bit world.

"Dear John,

Sorry for my very late reply. This summer we will create a new version of Vitascore for PulseOX, which is fully 64bits and Windows 7 compatible. In the mean time you could use the current software, and install the 64bits drivers for USB port manually, they can be downloaded from the FTDI site, and I could provide you with a link, however we do not officialy support 64bits untill the next release.

Regards,
Maarten"

Forget asking SPO Medical about the release ... any questions regarding Vitascore/Vitabase has been answered by "they are not responsible for the software".

When my husband hears from the engineer regarding the new release (this Summer?) ... I'll post the information.

Wow! How times have changed at SPO Medical! They were always great helpinlg me out w/the software and w/the SPO 7500 as well. If I remember the name correctly it was an Eric Manhart who handled the software problems for us. And Doni Mayerfeld at SPO Medical that helped us out w/the SPO 7500 itself. This would have been in 2007. Then I read somewhere that another software, something w/either "fox" or "fire" in its name, could be used w/the SP0 7500. I just remember confusing the software name w/the "Foxfire" software for 'puters, not for the oximeter.

My computer says I need to upgrade my brain to be compatible with its new software.

Slinky,

There is a Doni that is still there. My husband had talked to him ... but we get the impression that he might be in Israel, but could be in the Netherlands. Customer Service gave no indication that there was anyone at Simi Vally that could/would respond to questions about the software ... but it's possible.

The conversation/emails were regarding information in the reports that didn't agree ... which had been picked up by our physician.

But the "proprietary" software (as it's called by the so called Customer Service expert on the SPO 7500 at SPO Medical, Simi Valley, CA) is apparently written by a company named TEMEC ... which is in the Netherlands. While the unit itself in made in Israel. Headquarters is in the US.

Truly an International operation! Israel ... Netherlands ... USA.

By the way, I listened in to the conversation (speakerphone) between my husband and the woman in Customer Service at Simi Valley. She was very confrontational during his discussion regarding the software. Again, it was "proprietary" software and not her responsibility. Even with the release of the 64 bit driver, she maintained that the software wouldn't support Vista 64. Our laptop is Vista 64 ... and Vitascore/Vitabase runs just fine thank you!

Yes, Doni Mayerfeld is in Israel. I think Eric may have been in California. Whew! BIG change in Customer Relations!! Sheesh! And too bad. Word travels fast. Especially bad words. They've NOT done themselves any favors!

Jan, do you have the online address for TEMEC? I did a search for them and came up with several matches but none that looked like they did software.

Thanks Jan. I don't know if I need it yet. My computer is down, in the shop trying to find out if I need a new one. I am operating on a netbook or as Dell calls it Mini Laptop. Planning for the future that I hope I don't need yet.

Here I am dredging up an old thread....

A few weeks ago I built a new computer and installed Windows 7 x64. Windows Update automatically installed the correct driver for my SPO7500, and I installed Vitabase/Vitascore from the CD that came with my monitor. I'd hoped there would be an update to the software, but when I checked (via Vitabase & Vitascore), it says I have the latest version. I'm running v1.45. Can anyone confirm if this is really the latest version or not? As I understand it, there's currently no dedicated x64 version. The 32-bit v1.45 seems to run OK, but being a geek, I like to run the latest and greatest. So what version do y'all have?

TIA!

Was reviewing the information regarding SPO7500, as I use this to monitor patients we have in rehab for obstructive sleep apnea.
As I am nor a computer guru, should we be updating our software, we ar currently using V1.4.
Also does anyone know if there is an alternate USB cable we can use, we misplaced ours during a recent move and the US office states it is a proprietary cable that is costing us $55!!!! Definitely not the customer service we received in 2007 when we bought the unit.
