Hi Muffy,
I am not a witch - I am a holdover from the Zhang Dynasty. That's where pregabalin was originally invented. My basket has samples for all the noisy kids in our neighborhood.

After using Fisher & Paykel, w/Heated Hose for increased humidification for 5 days, nasal irritation increased each day. 5th day awakened with beginning of Conjunctitivis, which increased each day. Went to Doctor 3 days later, 5-27-09. His diagnosis, massive allergic conjunctitivis, to be treated with 6 days of MethylPREDNISolone 4 mg. Take six tablets 5-27, amount decreasing ea day 'til 1 tablet June 1, 2009. He is an internist, didn't know if connected to CPAP use.
My eyes were filled with mucus, all I could see before me was a blur. He told me would temporarily raise BG and BP.
He tested oxy levels at 94, which he said was good. Potassium 4.1.
I wanted to know daytime oxy levels prior to sleep test. I don't know what oxy was in 1999 when I had supplemental night oxygen. 3-2000 sleep test, awake time 94, sleep time oxygen 84, 4-2000 sleep test had ranges between 80 & 90.
12-2008 had a low of 84.
I LM for Sleep Dr. that after taking Myethylprednisolone one day, it disturbed last nights sleep. Will my sleep test 6-9-2009 be affected? Hope Not. // Dr. c/back said will have 8 days to recooperate from prednisolone, sleep should be ok by then.

Jan, this news is not exactly great news. Please hang in there and get better soon---hopefully in time for your upcoming sleep study.SaltLakeJan wrote:After using Fisher & Paykel, w/Heated Hose for increased humidification for 5 days, nasal irritation increased each day. 5th day awakened with beginning of Conjunctitivis, which increased each day. Re: Had UPPP, Do I Have To Get A New Doc, To Get Help With This?
Thanks SWS & Mar
for the :
Well here we are again, The pregnisone has screwed up my sleep, it is 5:21 a.m., and I'm writing you. And with your new development you don't know where you stand. I guess it it two steps forward and three back sometimes.
My eyes or so blurry I can hardily see to write. I guess we both have had some drugs that haven't been the best for our bodies. My internist tried to help me with the multi-facated complications from fibromyalgia, and you were on Zoloft for 15 years for depression, yet with your bone density and mine - we top the charts. Go Figure. I'm glad you were able to leave Zoloft off your daily meds, I had a couple of Fibromyalgia women I knew, who actually went into deep depression while on Zoloft.
We had a vacation house in Palm Springs, Ca for years, and in the spring the Yucca blooms were beautiful. Your photo of the Yucca for Ozji, was beautiful. I could see the rolling hills in the distance, and think about you being well enough, energy enough, to get on your horse and ride to your satisfaction.
I was going to ask you the brand of both of your chinstraps - I want one that does not impact my ears. Can you let me know about that? Thanks Thanks will get better for you. Jan
Shall I say it, dare I say it - Your sleep study will answer so many questions for you and leave you with the ability to ride as many 50 milers, as you want to.

You know, someone has to be out of the ordinary so that the rest of us (them) can have an easier time of it So we get the be the "hard to figure out" stats that allow everyone else to hopefully fall into the 'easier to resolve' stats

Thank you...I love the yucca and this ranch is covered with it. What is does not have is even ONE tree! We don't get enough rain to support a tree. So that is another reason I love going to rides with my horses....I may not live near trees but I can go to places like Mt Carmel, Utah and ride in those mountains and those trees...when I get around lots of green by eyeballs almost explode since I am so used to looking at our high desert landscape
Shall I say it, dare I say it - Your sleep study will answer so many questions for you and leave you with the ability to ride as many 50 milers, as you want to.
I won't be surprised if my new sleep study says that I DON'T have sleep apnea...both my new sleep doctor and -SWS have mentioned this as a possibility...I'll keep an open mind and just plan to sleep during my sleep study
I was going to ask you the brand of both of your chinstraps - I want one that does not impact my ears. Can you let me know about that?
The one that I like the best because it has an opening for my ears is:
Puresom Rudy Adjustable Chinstrap
I have the PAPcap too and it will be nice for the nights I spend in my freezing horsetrailer LQ since it covers my ears...I may be the only person whose ears it covers but since it does cover my ears and my head, it is pretty hot for indoor normal temps.
I also have CPAP.com's jock strap looking one...it smushes my ears but it does work otherwise, if I wear a ponytail to keep it in place.
Just so you know, they all do allow your cheeks to blow out and none of them are 100% perfect at keeping the mouth closed. (This is where Rooster jumps in to tell us all to use a full face mask)
Jan, I hope you feel much better soon!

If my "data is going to get mixed up with two other people, can I please get a couple who are less complicated??
Mar, would probably trade Hashimotos for Massive Allergic Conjunctitivitis. Even if she threw in the ranch, I wouldn't go for that. B.B., Your problems also look too complex. On the other hand, I'm not too excited about two days without sleep.
And, if either of you saw the condition of my eyes - - - -
All it would take now, is for OutaSinc to join our merry little band.

Re: Had UPPP, Do I Have To Get A New Doc, To Get Help With This?
It is almost morning,
And the drug that is supposed to be healing the "massive allergic Conjunctitivitis" has left me with 6 hours sleep in 3 days & nights. That's a problem . . compounded . . . the excessive mucus is clearing, but I cannot see clearly. I have to bend close to the screen to even get a blury vision of what I've written. This is my fifth day on Prednisolone - (a steroid hormone) There had to be a better drug. But, where do you find an Opthalmologist on a holiday. Yikes, I don't like this at all. How is all of this going to affect my sleep study (June 9th)?
I found with sleep deprivation, my body went on an automatic mode; I eat, & drink, but I sure as heck cannot think. Went to a niece's College Grad. friday. I stayed until I heard her name announced, then I spent the next 40 hot minutes vigorously walking up and down hilly parking lot. (the paving looked intact, I didn't want to add injuries from a fall to what I have.) I thought if I was physically tired, I could sleep. I was so fatigued I went to bed at 7:30 pm. Instead of sleeping, I am exhausted. I took my mask off so many times, & I am so uncoordinated , I left it off.
It has taken me almost 2 hours to write this "rant" I can't focus, so I am goiing to sit in a chair - stare at nothing and "fuss" about my vision and the sleep test. I have two more days of that drug, I hate to take it & I'm afraid not to finish the prescription. (I ran the spell check, but couldn't read the red letters. Sorry 'bout that.

Jan, consider talking with a pharmacist today.
In a pinch there's always the ER or any immediate care center that happens to be open in Salt Lake City today.
Hope you get this problem squared away soon. We're pulling for you!

I'm sorry you are having such a rough time. This isn't an advertisement UPPPs and you've had one anyway but before my UPPP, I would have massive sinus infections that could not be overcome without heavy hitting drugs...in fact, they always ended with me getting a cortisone shot to help out...not a good thing but still it seemed to be the only way to turn them around for me. After the UPPP, I have rarely had a sinus infection...but I do remember them and I feel for you. Hope you can get back on a healthy path...as bad as I would feel during the day, when I had a sinus infection, I felt much worse at night when I was trying to sleep and couldn't breath and the entire situation seemed to be made worse by trying to lay down.

SWS and Mar, Thanks for the good thoughts
Called my fav, U of Utah School of Med E.R., One Optha. on call. LMTC. He did, said not unusual to have body react to steroids, especially sleep. If vision not improve by mid-week, he will work me in. I have a good eye guy, I think he will be back from vacation early this week. I got a couple hours of sleep this morning, but still cannot see. I think I am beyond tired.
I really appreciate the support from you guys. "C" you later.
