relaxation cds

Post by frustratedmary » Wed May 13, 2009 8:23 pm

Has anyone found a good relaxation cd to use to get to sleep? I'm looking for something to use in bed to relax so I don't need medicineto sleep. Thanks

Hi

Thats a great list by bmt22033.

To it I would add anything by Mike Rowland - especially The Fairy Ring
and
Jeff Clarkson, especially Butterfly.

What I found best when I used to use an aid to getting to sleep was a tape of a Theta metronome. Even now, if I am not thinking about something I use my breath as a metronome. Then, to my surprise, I wake up and it is some hours later.

One can buy a proper metronome from a music shop, or get a tape (there are a few around). Just gently lay your concentration on the metronome, and take it from there.

The advantage of using the breathing is that I am working with the machine, and not as though it is not there.

I suppose you could always listen to one of ........... speeches.

(fill in your own choice)

cheers Mars

There are relaxation techniques that work very well. The following is for a simple routine referred to as autogenics. It was and is used by many European Olympic athletes. I learned a variety of these kinds of techniques to handle my 4 day long migraines and this one is the easiest to learn.

Another thing is to make a cd of you own voice with a relaxation script. That way you don't have to remember the steps.

I am somewhat claustrophobic and the first time I put my mask on I could feel the issue coming up and I spent the first hour with my mask repeating my relaxation words and then it was suddenly 7 am. I don't have to do it any more, after a week of associating my standard relaxation routine with putting on my mask the first few breath with my mask puts me into my relaxation trance.

I use these when I'm teaching meditation:

There are a ton to choose from. Many sound samples available to give you a better idea of what each is all about.

I like Sound Sleep Solutions. Discovered it at a hotel I stayed at last year. It has muscle and mind relaxation exercises in addition to music.

I think doing mediation for 15 minutes before going to sleep will help to get sleep well. One of my adviced me to do this. I am going to start from today but anyhow he said that it will take some more days to get control over our mind for relaxing.
