This morning my numbers from the download of my Smart Card were the best they've ever been and I just wanted to share this with someone, and I think the only people that will understand how I feel, are the great people on this forum. OA = 0.0, H = 0.0, VS = 0.1, AH1 = 0.0. Since I switched to a full face mask last October my results have been very good, however, that mask was too big for me, was a medium, I really needed a small. Even with that mask my numbers were very good, so not a big tragedy. Got a new mask two weeks ago, same Quatro, but in a small. The RT this time said "I can tell by just looking at you, you are a size small" and proceeded to try the masks on. When measured for the previous mask, was just measured by a measuring device that I think was made of cardboard.
Anyhow.....things are good, sleeping with my mask has become my "security blanket".

CONGRATUALTIONS!!

It is a great feeling to wake up rested annd see the data to back it up. It's amazing how many components go into making XPAP therapy work, isn't it? Type of mask, what level to set the humidifer at, room temperature, titration pressure, exhale relief pressure, the perfect mask adjustments, etc., etc. If any one of those elements is out of sync, it upsets the whole apple cart. What a delicate balance we have to maintain in order to get what others are able to lie down and achieve effortlessly every night.

BUT.......when it does all come together; it's a beautiful thing!

Pardon my French everyone, but... HOLY SHIT THOSE ARE GOOD NUMBERS!

I've gotten my AIs and leaks down that low, but not my HIs which hover between 1.7 and 3.5. Although I am on a Resmed, so maybe my HIs are really 0.9-1.8. I may need to bump up my minimum pressure one or two more notches. Wish me luck!

Help!!! I forgot how to stick a quote in here, it's been awhile since I've posted. JoyD asked what my pressure is....it is 10. This is the first time I ever had all the zero's. But since using the full face mask my numbers are usually pretty low, AH1 of less than 2, usually 1.something. Before (with nasal masks) AHI usually hovered around 5, with pressure of 10. This morning when I saw all the zeros, it was nice to see and had to post it here. Many of the obstacles I've overcome have been because of suggestions on this forum. So advice to newbies, ask questions here, don't give up.

Once I have the head gear adjusted with the straps in place and adjust the dial setting, when getting a new mask, I don't undo the positions of the straps. Occasionally I have to loosen or tighten straps a little. I don't take it apart to clean it, I just submerge the whole mask in warm water and baby shampoo and then rinse. I'm afraid if I take it apart, I'll never get it back together correctly. When I put the mask on at night, I start by pressing the "forehead pad" against my face first, then the lower part of the mask next and I read a tip on this forum not to have the upper part of the mask tighter than the lower part. Also, I put a small amount of CeraVe moisturizing lotion on my cheeks (just a couple of drops), another suggestion from this forum. Helps the mask stick a little, and also helped with some of the redness I was getting on my face. And my machine is lower than the bed so the hose comes up and I bring it under the covers and the hose is going down towards my chin rather than coming from above as it seemed to pull more in that direction...but I think that's a personal preference.
