CPAP Auction?
CPAP Auction?
I'm full of questions today.
Has anybody used cpapauction.com? Feedback?
I need to buy a machine, pronto. I need a Resmed CPAP, and insurance won't buy me another one for 2 more years.

Re: CPAP Auction?
I've purchased 2 masks and a few other spare parts and stuff through it. Look for people who have sold multiple items and have a decent rating. I have not had an issue with any transactions thus far. Oh... like ebay.... NO CASH OR CERTIFIED CHECK transactions. If you can't pay with PayPal or call in a credit card order... back away.

Re: CPAP Auction?
Yes. Several times. Mostly various masks in my LONG quest to stop the leaks. Never had a problem of any kind, so far...
The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

Re: CPAP Auction?
I have purchased several masks and one machine on cpapauction.com.
I had 1 problem where I paid for mask and never received it. I appealed through PayPal but no luck. Other than that I have been very happy with cpapauction.com.
I read the feedback carefully when I go to purchase something. Sometimes negative feedback for a seller is unwarranted. People sometimes blame the seller if a mask doesn't work for them!
I have purchased lots of brand new unopened masks and am very happy with them.
I purchased one machine as a backup for my main machine. You should ask the seller how many hours are on the machine. Sometimes they tell you in the "Comments" section. The one I bought had 83 hours on it. When I go it and checked it out, it did have only 83 hours on it and was in excellent shape.
Be careful with machine purchases and ask questions if you are uncertain. Sometimes the seller does not know what model of machine they are selling. They can use pictures from cpap.com and so it may not be the actual machine that they are selling that appears on the auction site.
I would suggest you have a PayPal account (easy to set up). It's the safest way to pay. Sellers with less than 5 sales have to use PayPal as I recall.

Re: CPAP Auction?
I have a question about the CPAP auction myself.
Who are these big sellers and where do they get all their inventory?
When you see a seller selling a mask and you see that they have hundreds of previous sales, clearly they are not just an end user trying to recoup a few bucks selling a mask they didn't care for.

Re: CPAP Auction?
My guess is that they are DMEs and online suppliers getting rid of excess stock or masks that have been returned.

Lee Lee, how are things going, hope your husband is feeling better.
I have had a couple great experiences on cpapauction.
You may look at craigslist also and see what you find.

Re: CPAP Auction?
I've purchased mainly spare parts including masks over the last two years. There are a lot of liars who use the auction. One mask I purchased had a smoky residue but the seller claimed it was NEW and never been used and "Non Smoking".
The auction lacks any sort of feedback on how the seller responds to queries or if he even bothers to reply. You can only post feedback after a fact. What's really interesting that these sellers who don't reply to questions typicallty have a positive review. For the most part, I believe those who sell machines advertised as new or almost new are not. Their either reconditioned units, long out of warranty, or first gen models. For example, the Respironics M series comes to mind as it's had a pretty shaky start due to issues such as noise complaints. Personally, I wouldn't buy a new or near new machine on cpapauction because you never know what you're getting, especially since many DME's either have multiple accounts or sell to themselves or each other.
