FYI
The local Pennysaver News had an ad recently-
"Do you snore?
Do you have problems falling asleep or staying asleep?
Do you have trouble staying awake during the day?
If any of these symptoms apply to you, please join us for a free COMMUNITY LECTURE.
i called and the lecture was full already and they were taking names for another. The receptionist said the response was overwhelming. It is being put on by two sleep docs and St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY
If you live in the area and want to attend, call the hospital at 631-474-6797 and ask to be put on the waiting list.

Re: The response was overwhelming!!!
I would be suspicious of any ad asking people who have "trouble staying awake" to attend a "community lecture." Sounds to me like the perfect setup for a group mugging!

In my area (Delaware) they are offering a 3 week course for sleep technicians at our community college with new sleep centers opening.
I believe the cost is somewhere around 3 grand.
Why not get paid for our knowledge ?

Bill,
The last thing that this world an its' OSA sufferers need is some hosehead like us trying to stay up all night monitoring patients! And we would violate all the rules by trying to advise the patient on CPAPs, hoses and masks.
But on second thought, it couldn't be much worse that what I went through for my PSG.

There are two rules of life. The first is don't tell everything that you know.
Re: The response was overwhelming!!!
Oddly enough, the PSG technician that performed my original diagnostic study told me that he was an OSA patient, so I guess it does happen.Snorebert wrote:Bill,

My PSG technician, a OSA patient, went one step farther . . . she wrote down the name of a great website to help me, "cpaptalk.com".by El Pap on Tue Apr 21, 2009 4:41 pm
