Respironics Performance Tubing--Worth the money?
Respironics Performance Tubing--Worth the money?
Hi there. I was thinking of getting the 6' performance tubing from CPAP.com to use as my main hose, and then use the standard as a backup when the other is drying.
Has anybody used both, and if so, are there any advantages to the performance tubing?
(I searched for a while but couldn't find anything regarding this.)

Thanks, -SWS! I didn't even think of looking in the Product Challenge section.

Re: Respironics Performance Tubing--Worth the money?
I used the regular tubing when I started therapy and for about 6 years. Then I go a Performance hose. It is so much lighter! The regular one could drag my mask off a bit because it is heavier. Not the Performance!
I now have 3 of them! They seems to last forever! I have one I use every night and a spare for when it is drying and one with my backup machine packed for travel.

I normally wouldn't have thought of looking there either, Kenny. But back when that product challenge was originally launched, it left an impression on me along the lines of: "Who'd a ever thunk to have a CPAP tubing product challenge of all things...?"tattooyu wrote: I didn't even think of looking in the Product Challenge section.
Of course, it makes a lot of sense since tubing is such a crucial component.
Re: Respironics Performance Tubing--Worth the money?
Before I went with the Aussie Heated Hose, I used the performance tube. I ordered it with my machine (yeah, I didn't read the fine print and notice that the machine would come with a tube).
Anyway, I was able to compare the regular hose against the performance hose. The best analogy I can come up with is would you rather have a hard unyielding stick or a soft flexible rope attached to your mask?

With xPAP therapy, do or do not; there is no try.
Re: Respironics Performance Tubing--Worth the money?
Kenny,
If you wear the LT hanging down, performance tubing will make a big difference for you, in my not-so-humble opinion.
It made a big difference for me, and I route the hose over my head. It is as if there is no hose connected to my mask when I roll over or change positions. So the tubing may make you want to try routing the hose over your head again, if you aren't now.
So I guess that makes my answer to your question: YES!

I do wear the hose hanging down, but lifted by my Hozer management system. I've already added to my cart on CPAP.com.

I love the new photos! That cap is just too sexy! I think I'll have to go take a cold shower now! (just teasing! It's too cold in here to take a cold shower!)
I just got one of those hoses and it makes a big difference. I can't even feel this new hose dragging the mask off my face like I felt the regular hose doing. It's so nice to have two hoses too, so you can wash one and let it dry and use the other one and just in case you don't trust your cats (if you have cats) it's nice to have the extra hose "just in case."

Not in my books. Can't tell the difference from any other tube I own.
Your mileage may vary.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
Re: Respironics Performance Tubing--Worth the money?
First night with the new hose was a success! With my hose being lifted by the Hozer, I could really tell a difference with the weight of it. It didn't nearly pull on my mask as much.
Strange thing though, the 6' hose was SHORTER than my PAC 6' hose cover. My "standard" hose was almost like a 7" hose? Definitely not 8" but the standard is longer than the performance one.
Thanks for all your feedback!
