PAP-Cap & buchwheat pillow
Re: PAP-Cap & buckwheat pillow
About a year ago I bought a buckwheat neck pillow from a company called Many Moons Alternatives Inc. and I was very impressed with the quality. Everything from the fabric to the sewing to the packaging. http://manymoonsalternatives.com/category.php?cat_id=4

Oh Pu-leese!! So you registered today with no other motive than to advertise a product that is not even in the same class as the Pur-Sleep pillow? Give me a break!johntee wrote:About a year ago I bought a buckwheat neck pillow from a company called Many Moons Alternatives Inc. and I was very impressed with the quality. And ya know, I think I finally get it. There is no way that anyone as supposedly intelligent as SAG thinks himself to be, that his seedy, low-life, pathetically childish remarks about Sleepguys's products could be taken as anything but incredibly great advertising for Pur-Sleep!! Wow!--Keep it up SAG. You've sold a thousand more products for Pur-Sleep, who well deserves your ironic (nutso??) publicity. Find another cause or get honest. Pur-Sleep has wonderful products. Period. And all the usual disclaimers on my part.
DeVilbiss IntelliPap Std Plus with Smartflex; Transcend miniCPAP & Everest2 w/humidifier & batt for travel. UltraMirage FFM; PadACheeks; PaPillow. Using straight CPAP at 13.0/passover humidifier. AHI consistently < 1.5. Began CPAP 9/4/08.

I was under the opinion that this was a forum to share info, have discussion and occasional disagreements about Cpap and OT as well, however I am somehow getting the distinct impression over viewing and participating in a series of topics surrounding pur sleep products, that if any one who doesn't bow down and pay ohmage to these products, or they refer to other products available on the market, be they the USA or elsewhere, they are committing one of the 7 deadly sins....Just my observation from one who lives down under

That post is totally appropriate for this message board. So I'll quote it here so that it doesn't get lost in the conversational shuffle.johntee wrote:About a year ago I bought a buckwheat neck pillow from a company called Many Moons Alternatives Inc. and I was very impressed with the quality. If johntee thinks that's a great alternative buckwheat pillow based on his experience, then by golly, that's about as on-topic for this thread as it gets. And happy anniversary, johntee!

Re: PAP-Cap & buchwheat pillow
Unfortunately this is true, but this is always the case in any group where people are friends. Friends defend their friends against all 'threats' of any kind. There are 2 other vendors that you can't offer competition to, either. It makes it awkward for me because one of them has a really fine product, I just don't have a lot of money. So I've come up with a far cheaper, though not nearly as nice, alternative. I've posted about it before, but I do feel awkward saying anything about it because I don't want to stir up the defensive feelings. But if people can't afford the nicer things, why shouldn't they have alternatives? I've certainly felt squelched from letting people know. Who knows how many others out there have interesting alternatives but are afraid to speak up?greenvelvetdragon wrote:however I am somehow getting the distinct impression over viewing and participating in a series of topics surrounding pur sleep products, that if any one who doesn't bow down and pay ohmage to these products, or they refer to other products available on the market, be they the USA or elsewhere, they are committing one of the 7 deadly sins....
I am for more freedom of posting, accompanied by civility, of course.
One poster with a product for sale has managed to sidestep the defensiveness on his behalf. I'm not sure how he does it, but he is very modest about his product, and I think that may allow his friends on this forum to voice their opinions of alternatives more freely.
Re: PAP-Cap & buchwheat pillow
Well, this supposedly has always been a message board to discuss "all things CPAP"---as opposed to a message board to defend "all friend-owned marketing channels". But SleepGuy already clearly mentioned in a past post that he does not rely on this message board as a sales channel. Rather, he uses this message board as a feedback channel.LoQ wrote: But if people can't afford the nicer things, why shouldn't they have alternatives? The good news is that product comparisons should help immensely toward that stated objective. So I would personally expect that these PurSleep product discussions should be neither attacked nor irrationally preserved. Rather, there SHOULD be plenty of rational product comparisons if those discussions are to be healthy. But there should not be irrational or targeted attacks on the products either IMHO.
And that same standard of unbiased and open discussion should occur for all other products here as well. But let's not treat any PurSleep discussion like a sacred cow or evil troll. Let's freely and openly discuss those products and their alternatives. That's just my two cents...
Re: PAP-Cap & buchwheat pillow
Agreed. I think competition actually helps PurSleep as well as consumers. There may be readers who were unaware of the PurSleep products who end up buying from them because of a discussion. And a review of the advantages and disadvantages of any product should lead to product improvement, which may result in even more sales to more satisifed customers. Everyone wins!-SWS wrote:But let's not treat any PurSleep discussion like a sacred cow or evil troll. Let's freely and openly discuss those products and their alternatives. I really do not understand the attitude of a number of people on this board who are so defensive about any competition to, or constructive review of, one of these sacred cow products.

Oh Yeah?
After doing a search of "StillAnotherGuest" "list all", in my "unbiased opinion", I think SAG has a lot of good points and timely, pertinent observations. So in response to "that poster's" untoward comments, SAG will respond
Regardless, SAG will report out his findings in objective, scientific fashion.
He will also investigate that bulk hulls deal and be willing to provide product as an intermediary (at cost, or less to anybody a little short on coin right now) for those who want to try the craft project.
BTW, hey GVD, how'd that millet combo pillow work out?

Aromatherapy may help CPAP compliance. Lavender, Mandarin, Chamomile, and Sweet Marjoram aid in relaxation and sleep. Nature's Gift has these and a blend of all four called SleepEase.

SAG,
Just askin' so I hope this doesn't come across as sounding anything other than helpful as intended...
You mentioned you were going to look at bulk hulls. Do you know what you're looking for? I'm also going to state up front, just in case.... that I am in no way associated with anyone's business on here. I asked about the hulls because I had to purchase some bulk hulls ... this is many many years ago... to plump up some pillows. I bet I ordered from 3 or 4 places before I finally got some quality hulls to use.
No pesticide (you can smell it right away if they have chemicals in them)
Clean hulls, no dust... or very very little dust.
Whole hulls with few, if any, bits and pieces.
NO MOLD! This can look like dust... watch out. This is a grain product. If it's dusty and gets damp at any point during storage, it can start to mold unless it gets dried immediately.

Thanks very much YB, that's a great summary of helpful tips.
