PapCAP HAS ARRIVED IN THE MAIL--AND IT WORKS!

Seems like an awfully inefficient route, but then again I don't claim to understand the ins and outs of the U.S. Postal Service system.

You bet, Judy. It's comin'...

I'm going to remove the long straps in the back which are optional anyway. They probably won't connect with the Swift LT headgear, and I'm not really up to modding my Swift LT, since it's my only mask, and I can't afford to mess it up.

What great is the extra little Velcro straps that came stuck to the cap I can use to keep my hose in place on the Hozer. I have a hose cover and it keeps falling off since it's too thick to fit in the rings.

Don't we hoseheads get excited about the weirdest things! When I ordered my Swift LT, I must have checked the shipping website a dozen times a day until it arrived. And I knew full well that the site was only updated once each day

Best of luck with that PapCAP and keep us informed!

REPORT: First night with the PapCAP II

Well, here I am after my first night with my new chinstrap... the PapCAP II by Pur-Sleep.com (SleepGuy on here).

My notes:
  • It is very well made. The stitching is solid.
  • Anyone should be able to use this with ANY mask due to all the different Velcro straps that come with it. Since I have the Swift LT head gear, I just needed the basic cap and strap.
  • The material is light (but strong) so it shouldn't be an issue even during the summer. I'll let you know as it gets hotter.
  • I did have some lines on my face this morning, so I may have had it tighter than I needed, but I figured better safe than sorry. The lines went away within a minute or two as opposed to an hour or two.
  • It's a little large for my head (I have a small noggin) but was still totally comfortable.
  • NO JAW PAIN OR NECK PAIN THIS MORNING!
The best part?

Leakage: 0.00 L/s
Usage: 7:23 hours
AHI: 4.8
AI: 0.5
HI: 4.3

If you agree with the ResMed/2 stance for HI events, my AHI was 2.7.

That's right. ZERO leakage. I looked at the graph this morning. There was a teenie tiny blip in the middle of the night, but it was so negligible that it didn't even count. Later tonight, I'll try to post last night's graph (with PapCAP) compared to the night before (without). I feel really good this morning, which is nice considering how awful I felt yesterday.

If you're struggling with leakage due to mouth breathing. Go get yourself a PapCAP. Seriously. I had to scrimp and save for it during these economic times, but it's worth every penny.

Next purchases:
  • Padacheek pads
  • Pur-Sleep Regenesis Pillow

OK I have a question about the Pap Cap. I have several masks that I use. CL2, Swift, Swift 2, Swift LT (see a pattern there?) and an UMFF.

I'd REALLY like to use my UMFF more, but my problem is with the manufacturer's headgear. The bottom connection to the mask basically forms a loop around the back of your neck... base of your skull... however you want to phrase it, but because of that method, every time I bend my neck (picture yourself looking either up slightly or down slightly) it changes the tension at the bottom of the mask and it leaks like crazy.

Does the Pap Cap solve that? It looks like it has like an "X" pattern across the back which would make the actual "mounting point" up onto the skull and not across my neck. Am I seeing this correctly?

Also... summertime heat. I don't have AC at the new house (yet) and I wonder if this would get too warm in the sumer. I actually fell in love with the swift because of its minimal headgear.

Working on getting a picture up. I'm having a bad panic attack today for some reason (my first real attack since starting therapy), so it may have to wait a day or two.

I just wanted to add that my panic attack is in no way related to using the PapCAP last night. It was a food trigger for me.

Thanks for the update on the PapCAP -- I have one on the way and have been wondering how it would adapt to my situation. All of the reports sound glowing. I also use the Swift LT, so may just use that headgear -- but it is interesting that with Medicare I can get a mask without headgear at three months. If the PapCAP would work for the headgear - well - that would be sweet.

Yardbird, I don't know for sure, since I don't have a full face mask, but there ARE straps that come from the back of the neck to attach a mask to. On the PAPCAP, I mean. Since I don't need them, I'm going to cut them off.

I just got mine last night, and am going to mod it today to attach my NAII to. I'll post my results later. I only tested it briefly before, and decided I liked my Deluxe chinstrap better, but I'll give it a longer test this time.

Cheers,
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)

Eureka, good luck buying a mask without headgear.

Yes, Medicare pieces those out. But the DME's DO NOT. You CAN buy the headgear without the mask, but you can't buy the mask without the headgear.

If someone knows a source for masks without headgear, bring it on!

LOL,
B.

That's a good looking cap! The one in the picture kinda reminds me of Van Gogh's Starry Night but a bit more psychedelic.
Naturally, I would want one with a Grateful dead logo on the front.
