My reader card - ALL FIXED!!!

Post by cpapsue » Sat Apr 11, 2009 5:47 am

Boy, do I feel dopey. . .

I got my card reader and software last night. Woke up a little groggy, anxious to see what's been going on, slipped the card into the back of the machine and nothing happened. I popped off the little door and pushed it in (to the wrong spot) and it was gobbled up, disappeared. I unplugged the machine, disconnected the humidifier and tried to shake it out - but I can't see it and there isn't even a rattle.

Saturday - Lincare is closed without any backup #'s listed on their voice mail. What do I do now? Can I use it tonight?
Take it apart?

Have any of you done this - are there a million parts that will be impossible for me to reassemble?

Any suggestions? And, I don't have a backup machine as yet.

You could test the machine by turning it on and seeing if it will run. If it runs ok without making any strange noises I would think it is ok to use
Or you could do what I would and carefully remove the casing of the machine and see if I could remove the card. Of course I would swear that I never opened the machine should there be a problem as I'm sure it would void any warranty.

Oh Anne Margret, you were a shining light for me, but now I'm not so sure. First you heave your machine to the floor, then you stuff foreign objects into it. You must hate CPAP

I am having a difficult few days - maybe I just need some attention! Guess I'd better find another way to get it!

I'm just staring at the thing wondering what to do with it, or to it, next!

I hope I'm not too late, but you did remove the humidifier before you shook the machine like mixing a martini??? - Mike

OK. Listen to me veeeerrrry carefully. (1) Stand still. (2) Breathe. (3) Now, facing the machine, step backwards away from it while keeping your hands in plain view. (4) Now keep walking backwards away from the machine. (5) Mooooove awaaaay sloooowly, and don't do anything (6) to it, (7) with it, or (8) near it until we (9) get some quiet time to talk about your relationship with that machine, OK?

I confess - when I first started reading I felt guilty for laughing. I'm not sure if I feel comforted that I'm in the company of others who can laugh at someone's misfortune - or scared.

Cpapsue, sure hope your machine is ok in all this. Wish I could offer some help, but all I can do is thank you for opening your Saturday matinee performance to all your friends here.

Strike three.......

On my way to find a screwdriver, I decided to install my new Resmed software. Bad move - I cracked the CD taking it out of the case. I'm not touching another thing today!!

Before I did anything more, my husband got his fancy Snap-on tools out. Turned over the machine and shook and wiggled until we could see the card which was now sideways! After some poking with some very long pointed thing, he got it turned enough so that it slid out!! Relief

But, since I cracked the CD for the software I can't read it anyway

Lincare's emergency line did page someone who called back. She said there's no way for that to happen - but, I know differently! She recommended to sleep without it til I could take it in on Monday. Glad I don't have to!

Good for you--allowing the husband to save the day!

A wording suggestion:

"I didn't see that the CD was cracked until I took it out of the case."

Sometimes we have to phrase things in a way that allows the customer-service people to be of help to us.

Rather than breaking your CPAP machine for attention, why don't you just go out into public and fluff your hair up and shake your head I've seen you do it in the movies and it always got you attention.
