Finally got my machine!Woo-H00!

Post by Bearcat42 » Thu Apr 09, 2009 3:56 pm

After many phone calls and a 4- hour trip to the VA hospital I finally took possession of an M-series Bipap Auto w/Bi-flex! Finally, I can start my "new" life. I really hope things work out and I start feeling better soon. I know my wife will sleep better.

I did manage to get a copy of my prescription. The RT was really nice and helpful. I told her about this board and that I had been studying up on cpap therapy. By the end of our initial meeting she commented on how nice it was to have someone who was taking a proactive approach to their therapy. She said that normally she is trying to talk people into doing it at all.

She also was amazed at the high pressure that I require. She stated that they hardly ever order the auto's. According to the prescription sheet my pressures were set at 21/17 and I am wondering how it is going to be breathing with such a high pressure. I had her set the ramp at 10, for 20 minutes. I dont know if that will help to get used to a setting of 21 or not.

I am not sure what to set bi-level at so I guess I will experiment with that.

This unit comes with a smart card which was cool and I am about to order a reader for it. I already have the software installed along with Encore Pro Analyzer so I am just about set. I guess from here on out it becomes a question of compliance, determination, and problem solving so I hope you guys and gals dont mind if I bother you with stuff you might find mundane. Reading charts might take me a little time to master so there may be a future post concerning that!

Anyway, thanks to everyone here who has helped me learn about OSA and cpap. God Bless!!!

David

Welcome to your new life. Your not alone. This site has been a great source of information and encouragement for me and I am sure you will feel the same once you get into your therapy. We do enjoy seeing the progress.
