Which hose management system?
Which hose management system?
I'd like to purchase a hose management system, but have no idea which one is "best". I'm not concerned with which one is best for travel, because I can do without it when I'm on vacation.
I'd appreciate any comments from those who have used one or more of these products.

I hope others will offer their opinions about their favorite commercial one. I can't help since I just take along a 3-M Command hook and a scrunchie on trips, and use a swivel plant hanger and scrunchie at home.
But I will try to help new readers who might be wondering... "Hose management system??? What are they talking about now???" --

I highly recommend CozyHose "The Boss". It is great for travel and I have used it several times. It is quick, portable and very compact. In fact, I use it regularly at home as my hose management system.

Re: Which hose management system?
I have two that I am using one that I keep at home and one that I travel with and use at the firehouse.
The one use at home is called the Hosebuddy https://www.cpap.com/productpage/HoseBu ... ystem.html
The one I use at the firehouse and for travel is called the CPAP hose lift. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/flexib ... -lift.html
I have been using both for about six months. The hosebuddy is nice but as with any hose management system don't forget your hose is hooked up to it when you go to get up or sit up. The hose buddy has a hook on the end to hang your mask when not wearing it which is hopefully during the day. The hosebuddy has a travel unit but it doesn't have the hook on the end and it isn't as small or compact as the hose lifter. The hose is held onto the hosebuddy with velcro so the hose doesn't move at all.
The CPAP hose lifter is great. It folds up and fits into a small compact back with a draw string on the top to keep it all in. Collapsed for travel it is maybe a half inch thick about 6 inches wide and 9 inches long. It has hollow pieces with shock cord in it that slide together and are held in place by the shock cord. At the business end is a loop which your hose slides through. The hose isn't held to the unit like it is on the hose buddy, rather it is just loose from the cpap to the top of the hose lifter, which allows the hose to move some if you sit up.
I use the hosebuddy two out of three nights when at home and the hose lifter one out of three nights when home but at the firehouse. I use the hose lifter when traveling. The hose lifter has held up great, just don't try and see how far it will bend like a co worker did with mine or it will break. The hose lifter says it can be repaired if it breaks but good luck getting ahold of someone at the manufacturer.
Both units have a small piece that fits between your box spring and mattress. The hosebuddy stays put but can be removed and put out of site in a closet if need be. The hose lifter can stay put or be taken down and put away in a drawer quickly if you wish. I would say the hose lifter would work for most people at home for constant use if you only wanted one.
Hope that helps some.

I looked at the systems available five months ago, and settled on the HoZer.

Mine was the first review on this product on CPAP.COM, and I haven't changed my mind about it. I'm very glad I didn't start CPAP therapy without it!

Re: Which hose management system?
I failed to mention that both the hose buddy and hose lifter allow you to use a hose cover with them. I know of one unit the hozer, you can not use any type of cover with it because the hose has to fit through that last small ring.
I am not bashing the hozer just giving my thought on it and why I didn't consider it.

Re: Which hose management system?
I chose the HoZer because I wanted something portable. And I didn't want anything with shock cord construction. The HoZer rods screw into one another. The rods themselves are carbon fiber - very strong and flexible.
Also, you CAN use the HoZer with a hose cover, you just have to use a strip of Velcro to hold it in the top ring.
It comes apart easily and travels well in the included travel bag. LISA

I just added a strip of velcro at the end ring, and now it works fine with my hose cover.
I grant you, it would be better if they'd made that ring wider to start with, but I can live with one minor item, given the superiority of the rest of the system.

Re: Which hose management system?
I wasn't sure if I was going to want/need hose management when I traveled.
So, I first got hosebuddy -- https://www.cpap.com/productpage/HoseBu ... ystem.html
I guess I expected more...but it reduced the reach of my hose and didn't extend to where I wanted to sleep, and the my hose wouldn't reach anymore. I thought of getting longer hose.
Later I pulled the trigger and got a HoZer -- https://www.cpap.com/productpage/hozer- ... ution.html
Now the same old hose can reach to where I can sleep more comfortably on my bed. Yes, there was the problem of the last clip and having a hose cover, but I just used a piece of ripwrap to keep it in place. In fact, with all 3 segments installed...the end of the hose is only an inch from the end of the whip. I added a bit of an extension to my hose to help...but ended up settling on removing the middle segment.
Not sure what I'm going to do with HoseBuddy....not much else it can be used for .... maybe after I rearrange the bedroom, I'll use it as the place where I hang my mask when I'm not using it. My mask is too heavy for HoZer. And, it is annoying when I get into bed in the dark...and mash my mask in to the bed while trying to find it. Wonder how the adjustment of the cushion will hold up in travel....
Meanwhile...I got the CozyHose Boss from pur-sleep, for in case I want hose management when I travel.

Re: Which hose management system?
The best way to manage the hose is to bring it under the covers at the top of your belly and from there let it run up to the mask. Managing the hose in an overhead position, as you have found out, is an aggravation.
I sleep on my stomach and either side with my hose under the covers and leading up to the mask. I have also slept on my back and it is easy in this position also. This has an added advantage of heating the hose and preventing rainout without the expense and complexity of added devices.

Re: Which hose management system?
For those of you who use the hozer why not write to the manufacturer with your comments or suggestions. I have found that with the hose buddy having all that velcro I don't remove the hose as often as I should and wash the hose out. I wash it more when I use the hose lifter.
But then again their are those who rarely wash the hose out.
I was going to write the manufacturer of the hose buddy about making it quicker to remove the hose. It isn't that complicated only takes a few seconds to remove it and a minute to put it back. I guess I am part of that part of society that wants everything immediately without delay.
For those of us who have found something that works. If it aint broke why fix it?

Re: Which hose management system?
I spent the money on the hozer and haven't looked back since. I do end up cursing at it sometimes, because I haven't gotten my lazy ass to attach a strip of Velcro to accommodate my hose cover yet. However, once I'm settled and it's in place, it's never fallen off. I simply leave the top ring open and snug it into place.
I can't imagine sleeping without it now. It's gives me total freedom to move around.

Re: Which hose management system?
I use the CozyHoze Boss from Pur Sleep and have been satisfied with it. This is the first hose management I have used so I can't compare it to others but it has helped with keeping the hose out of the way. I'm happy with it and don't plan to replace it anytime soon. It also fits over hose covers.

Re: Which hose management system?
This works only is you don't have a pair of 30 pound standard long hair dachshunds sharing the bed with you and your spouse.rooster wrote:The best way to manage the hose is to bring it under the covers at the top of your belly and from there let it run up to the mask. Trying to change position when the Dachs have the hose nailed into the pillows Does Not Work. Although I admit, they do make an interesting substitute for an Aussie hose....
....do you suppose the TSA and the airlines would believe the Dachshund Duo are medically necessary, and would let them travel with me?
