OT: Winter in spring

Post by carbonman » Sun Apr 05, 2009 6:29 pm

These past 8wks of my life have been chaos. .....long, boring tale....
but through it all, the one constant is the bike....always the bike.

Since we had spring during the winter, it only stands to reason
that we should now have winter, since it is spring.
Such is Colorado.

It has been snowing off and on for the past 10 days.
Much needed moisture, so no complaints.
Ride when you can.
Today was a cold, gray day. 36F 33miles 1:59' 1.6K vertical

Along the bike path, I found a house that has become a home.
Great Horned owls.

Nice pictures! Since childhood I have always been fascinated with Great Horned owls. I can watch them for hours and hours. That's what I call entertainment. I have the same feelings about the Rockies . We had a winter storm pass through Nebraska today and I'm hoping this is it for snow this year. I need to get out doors and be more active this Year. I gained some weight this Winter and need to push that mower around the yard a few times a week to get back in shape.

um.... yuck. Do you do the whole neoprene boots, gloves thing? Also, do you wear something like a balaclava?

What are you using to track the elevation gains?

Spring will come. you just wait and see.

Not so bad....I've been doing it for alot of years.

Body:
long sleeve polypro Tshirt
regular cycling jersey over that
North Face wind breaker over that
regular cycing shorts
micro fleece leg warmers

hands:
regular full finger gloves, nothing special

head:
micro fleece ear band-I wear one, put one on my aerobars- switch when one get sweaty and cold
always have a dry one to put on
if it's colder than today, I have a full micro fleece balaclava-today was questionable as to need for that
helmet

feet:
regular cycling socks
micro neoprene toe covers- I have full booties but only use them when it is really cold

There is no bad weather, only improper gear.

Now there has got to be two cycling extremes

Austin & San Antonio vs Colorado.

My recollection of Austin is that the winters are very mild ?
