I'm a newbie and have been on the Remstar Auto CPAP Pro M with C Flex for three days. My setting is 5CM to 15CM and I use a Quattro full face mask. Last night I woke up because I was swallowing air and my stomach hurt. The machine was blowing at a high pressure, but the pressure wasn't decreasing after I woke up. After about 15 to 20 minutes, I ended turning it off and back on so that it started at the low pressure again so that I could go back to sleep. Shouldn't it ramp back down fairly quickly when I wake up? I thought the whole point of auto CPAP was that it would go up when needed and back down again.

Hey Greg,

I had mine get stuck on 12 (set for 8-12...) on the 2nd night. Never did it again. When mine was stuck, it wouldn't even do exhale relief. Just blowing at a high pressure and I'm not even sure it wasn't more than 12...

Mine is Auto with A-Flex, but probably same thing except the A-Flex added...

SnuggleHose - Got the 8 foot and cut it down to 6, used the rest for mask hoses.
Memory Foam Pillow - Cut my own out of my Tempur-pedic pillow. (works great!)

Welcome to the message board, Greg!

Nope. It's not supposed to change pressure quickly. The machine doesn't know whether you are asleep or awake. Fast pressure changes yo-yo'ing up and down could disturb sleep, so the changes either way are designed to be gradual ... to not be abrupt jumps. Autopaps are designed to change pressure slowly, up or down.

If you're even waked up during the night with the machine blowing "too hard", just reach out and press the Ramp button one time. Hitting "Ramp" will make the machine drop back down instantly to the lowest pressure set for your range whether you have "Ramp" enabled or not. That's a quicker way to "start over" with an autopap than to turn the machine all the way off and then back on again.

I'll be glad to send you the Provider manual (clinical manual...different from the "user" manual) for your machine, if you'll PM me. You'd need to register (free) on this message board to be able to use the Private Messages feature. If you decide to do that and you send me a PM, please write out the full name of your machine so I can send you the correct manual.

The full name of an M series autopap will be one of these two (and won't have the word "Pro" in its name)...be sure to tell me if it is, or is not, the autopap with the word "A-Flex" written on top of the machine.
