Liberty and Hybrid Full Face Nasal Pillows masks

Post by montana » Fri Mar 27, 2009 4:52 pm

I used a Mirage Liberty Full Face CPAP Mask with Nasal Pillows on trial from sleep center for 1 week. When i got it I thought maybe it looked a little flimsy. After about 5 days the plastic broke where the upper strap hooks to the mask. Too bad I really loved the mask. I went ahead and ordered the Hybrid mask with nasal pillows. Have any of you used the Liberty one? Is it just a fluke that it broke?

Hello Montana, from what I have read the older Liberty's had trouble with the plastic breaking. On the newer ones that is supposed to be fixed. I have the liberty and really like it but for the fact that the small is to small and the large is to big and leaks from the sides. I ordered the Hybrid and received it yesterday. So last night was the first time using it. From what I have found so far the Liberty has better sealing pillows. I could not get the small or the med pillows from the Hybrid to stop leaking did not try the Large. I used the Small on the Liberty so what I did was take the pillows from the Liberty and crammed them into the Hybrid pillow holes. It worked fine as there were no leaks and felt fine. Going to see if the Large mask and med pillows will work tonight. The head gear feels alot better on the Hybrid as there is not that hard plastic on the sides of your face. Good luck with the new mask.

Ive been using my Liberty for 2 weeks now and REALLY LIKE it! Im still fighting the pillows. I need one medium and one large. Every night i remove the hose from the mask to look in the mirror to make sure everything is on right, clip it back to the hose and do a mask fit check. I have yet to break anything, and i do toss and turn still some.

So it may just have been a bad mask. Id ask for a new one

I have been using the Hybrid mask lately. I was using a full face (Quattro), but I ran into problems with leaks near my eyes. The Hybrid doesn't come anywhere near my eyes. I had big problems with the pillows leaking at first, to the point where I gave up on the Hybrid for a while. After experimenting, I found that the trick was to keep the upper straps tight. This pulls the mask up more snug to your nose. This is the opposite of a typical full face mask, where the upper straps do not have to be tight at all.
