ANTS !!! inside short tube ! W A R N I N G !

Post by Marietjie » Thu Mar 26, 2009 10:02 pm

Just a warning : when storing your equipment PLEASE close short tube and hose holes. Luckily, when I picked up my equipment to get ready for the night, I saw something moving.....
A N T S in the short tube!!! It was scary !
A few months ago a kind member gave us this warning and since then I always closed the 'holes' but just this once I didn't close the short tube (can't remember why!?! - things like this can happen, you know!
Ja, we learn by our mistakes and I will NOT again forget to close the holes - (I rinsed them out)

At least they weren't bees! They were probably after the water. We used to have trouble with ants finding a path to our coffee maker. They'd crawl in, take a drink and then leave. It was kind of fun to watch this 20 foot long stream of ants along our wall.

agree that they are probably after the moisture- it has been very dry here in the last few months and i have had them get into a water cask (a 20 liter cask of bought water) i had never seen them go after water before but i think that the really dry wheather has made a difference- never the less the idea of inhaling ant at 14cm per minute is not all that appealing! thanks for the heads up!

Many homes in the midwest US get invaded by Asian "lady" beetles this time of year - they seek out the warmth of the house, and warm areas within it. They, and spiders, have been my concern. I cover my machine when the hose is detached, but that is not a high confidence solution.

I use old (but clean) knee hi stockings. As soon as the mask comes off the stocking goes on!

Spiders. Oh. My. God. Never gave it a second thought before...will never be able to forget it now. Time to come up with a foolproof way to bugproof my gear! (And yeah, I get those dang beetles in droves, too. And those pesty boxelder bugs.)

Great fun this - think of all the protein. If you use a ffm you can get your protein for the day without even waking up.

And on the spider theme, check out this beautiful girl

Hi - You can use 'anything' BUT use something that goes inside and NOT on top. You won't believe it.......ants and maybe other crawling things manage to get through between an " on top cap" and your hose and ever nicely walk inside your hose or tube.
Hoseheads are people that learn alot everyday - more than any other normal people in the world ! ! ! Don't you agree ? ? ?

.......thanx, Ok, there won't be a next time (ants in tube) but I'll remember this.
