CMS 50E Oximeter Data Question

I am a computer and electronics dummy. I have a ResMed S8 AutoSet II APAP, ResScan 3.07 Software, a CMS 50E Oximeter and software. I can download data using the ResScan cardreader for use in ResScan to view my results using my AutoSet. I can download data stored in my CMS 50E to view in the software that comes with the Oximeter (SPO2 V0.981). Is there any way I can use the data from the Oximeter (it records and stores 24 hours of data) with my ResMed software to incorporate Oximeter data to use in the reports for oximetry statistics?

I have looked into this & in one respect I believe it is doable. The main need is understanding how to reformat the CMS50 data into a file that ResScan will accept. In order to do this, we would need a nights data from a Reslink with SpO2.

That nights data needs to be in a file that we can analyse. The SpO2 part of the data and its format needs to be located (a hex dump will expose the data) then a translation program would need to be written to take the CMS50 data & convert it into the form accepted by ResScan, then feed it to ResScan. It should be possible to then show up in the ResScan reports.

I doubt that ResMed would help us do this & I haven't got the time. I am sure Slinky would provide us with the file of the SM card in her ResLink (Slinky has an SpO2 attachment to her Reslink).

That is sounding awfully technical for a computer dummy to understand. However, the CMS data is either downloaded as or convertible to a Microsoft Office Excel Comma Separated Values file. If I knew how to attach a small file as a sample I would but this is (if I can do this) is how the data appears:

I believe the interval between each reported value is 10 seconds but I am uncertain of that.

I am thinking of purchasing the same oximeter, and I was wondering the same thing. It would be great if that could be done. I think Uncle_Bob is a software engineer. Maybe he can figure that out!

Well I'm an embedded software engineer (cellphones, telecoms switches, military combat etc) not much of a PC programmer i'm afraid.
But having said that I am just thinking about getting the exact same Oximeter, i was just waiting for someone to confirm the device actually stores a nights data and that you do not have to sleep with the thing connected to your computer with a wire overnight.
Also i am waiting delivery of my card reader. Once i have both i will take a long hard look to see if it can be done.

My guess is unless there is a standard file format for this data then each manufacturer will use its own proprietary file format and they will be incompatible with each other, but we shall see. Also if they are incompatible but we know the format that Resmed uses we could write a program to convert between the formats.

A word on the Oximeter: It works, is easy to use, all of it's guts fits on your finger tip, it does record up to 24 hrs of data although I think the battery may not last that long (may be limited to 12 hrs. of battery life but the battery recharges fairly quickly if the Oximeter is attached to my laptol by the USB cord or plugged into an outlet using the included plug and the USB cord. I paid $139.95 for mine and shipping was free. As far as I know, it is the least expensive recording oximeter available, is FDA approved and actually works. Even if I cannot incorporate its readings into my ResScan reports, the software that comes with the oximeter generates its own reports and I can just look at the ResScan report and the CMS report.
