It's getting better! I'm so excited. As long as my chinstrap stays in place, I seem to be great for the night. I'm considering the PAP-CAP quite a bit just because it uses a cap and not a strap on the top of the head.

Results for 3-23-2009:
Usage: Somewhere around 8 hours
Leakage: 0.06 L/s
AHI: 4.2
AI: 0.3
HI: 3.9

Well done Kenny, I'm still trying to get there.

I bet you are feeling great ? Have you noticed an increase in dreaming?

You know, I wasn't sure I'd ever get to a leak rate like that. I was happy with 0.2 L/s, because most of my events were being handled. However, with that said, I think I feel even better. If I can get a few consecutive days like that, I'll be happy.

I've noticed a LOT more dreaming. Although I don't always remember them, I do know they are longer, more vivid and more frequent.

Kenny, I'm so not surprised that you're getting these results. You are so determined, well done!

Uncle Bob, just curious, what problems are you still having, anything we can help you with? Dori

Thanks DoriC!

The chinstrap is working but hurts like hell in the morning, especially on my jaw joints. I guess there's a trade-off for good treatment!

I think Carbonman uses a PapCap with good results.

Leak rate last night was 0.24 L/s, but I only had ONE apnea according to ResScan! My HI was around 4.1.

i took your advice and tightened up my chin strap, not to the point that it hurt or made me feel uncomfortable in the morning. I got my leak down to 0.12 which is 50% down on my normal. I'm going to go even tighter tonight. Got an AI of 0.2 and HI of 4.0. I'm surprised by these number as i woke to two rainouts and immediately removed the mask both times. I had the humidifier set to three so its back down to one now.

Can't wait to get my ResScan up and going.

Way to go UB!

Obviously, there's a trade-off between comfort, so you can sleep, and low leakage (which sounds really gross now that I read it).

In my eyes, the closer to zero leaks you can get, the better. However, I'm now comfortable that if I have occasional nights where the leak rate is around 0.1-0.2 L/s, I'm not going to sweat it if my numbers are good. Even at 0.2 L/s we'd still be under the threshold that ResMed considers to be the maximum for proper treatment (<0.4 L/s).

Hi everyone!

I had to share this. Last night, I had one of the longest and most vivid dreams I've had in a long time, even since starting therapy. I feel so much better today! I've also noticed that I am more in control of my dreams like I used to be a LONG time ago.

THIS IS MOST EXCITING!

P.S. I don't really need to post my numbers any more since they are very stable now. AI is always below 1.0. HI is usually below 5. I'm feeling so much better.

Kenny, can you hear me applauding? Great news! We have found it to be the same "trade-off" as well. When hubby's leak rate is a little higher than listed(40 lpm) and he records about 45-46, his AHI is always below 1. When his leak rate is about 42 his AHI is higher 1.5-2.0. Den(wulfman) addressed that question early on in hubby's treatment and I understand what he means now. Also, we've finally stopped obsessing about the small ups and downs in the numbers and concentrate more on how he's doing from day to day. As long as he's feeling good and is stable, I don't have the urge to "tweak" so much anymore. Did I just say that???

Thanks DoriC!

What did Den/Wulfman say about that? Just curious. It seems counter intuitive...

I have that thread saved but can't find it. I'd never presume to ad lib for Den but I think he refers to it more as extra airflow rather than actual leaking. It does seem counter-intuitive but it seems to be true, I just forgot why. Not wearing the mask myself it's hard to articulate it.
