Also like Bigburd, I recommend using a using a thin bandage (Band-Aid) across your nose bridge. It helps to disperse the load the cushion places at that area. Also, suggest to adjust the forehead bridge just before leaks (@ nose) occur. Best to do this lying down with the machine running. My setting is 18 when I use the Quattro.
I have also had success with the Respironics ComfortFull II mask. It has a deeper nose bridge recess and does not cause as much stress for me. They are available on cpapauction.com for about $30.
I guess I was fortunate in that I was able to adapt to CPAP and get results quickly. Stay with the program and keep searching for answers on the forum.

Re: Feel like cr*&#p using Mirage Quattro ffm
I did try the bandaid on the bridge of my nose trick but the mask just would not work for me - I still have the Quattro just in case I am in need of a change for a night. I also trimmed a little off the mask in the area it was causing the excess pressure and sore just to see if that might work - it did not.Bigburd wrote:I place a 1" round dot bandage on the nose where I had problems. Works for me.KengEsq wrote: I know I tried the Mirage Quattro and just could not wear it because it caused a sore on the bridge of my nose after only a few days of use. However, it did not leak.
One other thing to adjust, turn down your humidifier a little and see if this makes a difference.

Yes, yes, yes!!! Get in there and fight. This is your therapy and you need to know what's going on with it. The fact that your titration pressure is "maybe 13, maybe 17" means you really, really need to know what's going on. I'd tell your doctor that you simply CAN NOT use this machine and you need one with "exhale relief". And then while they are at it, you really, really, really, really, REALLY need one that has the data capabilities to show you where your leak rate and AHI is at... YOU JUST CAN'T SLEEP WORRYING ABOUT IT!oofoozle wrote:switch to a better machine with data?
The time to be passive oofoozle needs to stop right here and right now. You need this.

SnuggleHose - Got the 8 foot and cut it down to 6, used the rest for mask hoses.

I used to buy bandaids for the bridge of my nose and also used a telfa pad between the forehead cushion and my skin to prevent skin break-outs there. I got smart and bought the forehead and nose bridge cushion from PadaCheeks.com. It was a one-time expense as compared to continual bandaid-pad expenses and it has worked like a charm! I wish I had done it months before. The quattro is the best mask I have found so far and I have a low leak rate and good comfort with it.

Check your machine to make sure it is set for that mask. The quattro has a high vent leak rate which is the amount of air that is considered to leak out via the vent on the top front. If your machine isn't set to that mask or leak rate it may not be compensating properly and your pressure may not be where you need it.
The quattro is a great mask but it is like a double edged sword.
You may also have a leak from the swivel when you are asleep. I did and it was a large leak that I fixed with teflon tape. If you have a problem with the swivel leaking do a search on here for teflon tape and quattro.

When I first got my Quattro mask it leaked like a sieve. Thanks to this web site I was steered to the Remzzs product and now I use one of them every night. Leaks have stopped (.46) to and average of .04 not to say a sound sleep every night.wasColette wrote:The Escape is still a good machine. Just does not give you data and I don't believe you are able to change the settings yourself.
I switch between the Quattro FFM and a nasal mask (and tape). I have the S8 AutoSet II and what I do notice is that I must change the setting on my machine so it knows which mask I'm using. I think that is just so it can report the correct leak rate.
I can't say I feel much different between the two masks. I actually like the Quattro better. Give it more time. But ultimately if you feel better sleeping with the nasal mask then use that. There are so many different masks out there. I can go from one night loving the Quattro to the next night adjusting it off and on all night for leaks. It's a process, that's for sure.
My gripe about sleep apnea doctors and clinicians are that they know initially we are "babes in the woods". Therefore, they tell us what they think, in general, is they way to go. Yet, if they were honest about it they would admit that everyone is different and it will take weeks to get adjusted to the system.

What is the "Remzzs product" and what did it do to stop the leak? Did it make the Quattro mask more comfortable - especially, for someone like me because the Quattro cased a sore on the bridge of my nose?charliemack wrote:When I first got my Quattro mask it leaked like a sieve.
