I used the cpap.com sizing guide option to measure and determine what masks fit me best. I've just started treatment, tried nasal pillow first night without success and immediately switched to sleep center provided comfortgel nasal by respironics. It works fine my first two nights but it left imprint on bridge of my nose both nights, the second night's still apparent and a little sore at nose bridge. From eyeballing mask, it appears might be too big for me....
Yes, DME should help but her first visit was here's two of my popular options: nasal pillow for folks that like to sleep sideways, and comfort fusion for nasal mask. I took the nasal pillow. No discussion about sizing, fitting while lying down, etc.!
Based on cpap recommendations, the nasal masks recommended include: ComfortClassic nasal - size small, comfortSelect nasal, size medium (??), mirage micro nasal with headgear - medium/large, mirage activa LT nasal with headgear-medium. What are everyone's experiences with using the sizing guide and the automated recommendations/selections? Most if not all of suggestions are used by very small percentage of users to cpap.com?
Choosing a masks using sizing guide/selection?
Re: Choosing a masks using sizing guide/selection?
I've never been able to get the sizing guide to work for me, and I've heard from others here the same. It seemed to compute some really odd sizes when I tried it.

Re: Choosing a masks using sizing guide/selection?
You might do better with the sizing guides put out by the manufacturers of the masks.. And don't expect that a small in a Quattro equals a small in an Activa. Same manufacturer, different way of measuring your face/nose. When the Resmed rep measured my face, he said I should be wearing a Large in the Activa and an X Small in the Quattro.

I have had good success using the manufacturer's sizing templates. If you print one out to use, be sure to check the scale is true. Good luck.
Re: Choosing a masks using sizing guide/selection?
The Respironics size guide said I should have a large Comfort Gel Nasal mask, but 2 weeks with one proved them wrong. It leaked like a sieve and when I cinched it down to stop the leaks, it was very uncomfortable. The RT at a research sleep study I participated in said to have the DME exchange it for a medium and it fits like a glove. The only true way to know for sure, is actual use for a few days.

How did you get a resmed rep to come over to measure? My DME basically gave me one from menu A and one from menu B.OutaSync wrote:You might do better with the sizing guides put out by the manufacturers of the masks.. Off topic, my wife suggested I try again the nasal pillow tonight (my night 3)...in just testing it out for last 20 minutes, found during initial ramp phase, it's a "can't get my breath' feeling but as it ups the cm pressure, gets more comfortable. Compared to the mask, the pillow is like a feather...I'm going to do an all-nighter if necessary to give it a fair try tonight!
