Mirage Liberty Help needed.

Post by N6CRV » Sun Mar 15, 2009 9:57 am

Hello, just got the Mirage Liberty Friday. The first night was not what I hoped for. I got a great seal but after 2 hours I got the worse pain. It was at the bottom of my nose. I think I had the upper straps to tight and it pulled the whole mask up into my nose. Last night was better good seal and not the bad nose pain just a little tender. The pillows don't seem to be causing any trouble as I'm used to having a Cannula there anyway. I need some help with the upper straps cutting into my face. I see they have some padding but very little. I was thinking about adding "moleskin" to the padding that is there. Has anyone tried that as I don't think it will be easy to remove it. Also how do you keep the mask from riding up and hitting the bottom of your nose? Thanks for the help.

I too use a liberty mask. But i have an opposite problem . My mask slides down on my chin causing the nares to leak. I have found if i tighten the top straps it rides higher on my face and stays put . But also found if you get the top straps to tight it pushes the nares on your nose making it sore. try loosening the top straps some and tighten the bottom straps There is a sweet spot in getting the top and bottom straps just right . Good luck

Thanks Hummer3d, I will play around with trying different combo on tightening. I did put up some Lansinoh so hope that will help also. One good thing is the bridge of my nose is healing.

if you want to just pad the plastic clips, you might try Toe Bandages - they are tubes of foam that come 4 inches or so long you can cut to size. WM had carried them in the area by the other foot products. Any major drug store should carry them. This is one brand but there are others I think and any foot doctor of course would have them.

some dollar store or a big hardware store that never clears out stuff like my local ACE.

I really don't know but you got a picture there to start working with to lab rat something yourself now. You might try to get some thick coated wire and / or some big washers or O rings make your own.

I too use the Mirage Liberty, in fact more often lately. now i tend to get some pressure on the upper lip at times, i actually
adjusted the side straps a bit and this helped. I find that I do prefer having the nasal pillow and mouth mask together, I
haven't got use to nasal mask by itself. Good luck sometimes just simple adjustment will work.
