Bad move switching to Apria?

Considering switching to Apria because they are in-plan provider for BC-BS FEP. The on-hold recording states 90% of the country is within 45 minutes time of any Apria facility. Is that 45 minutes by chopper? I'm in Maryland-DC area, not exactly the dark ages when it comes to health care, and I have to drive an hour and a half to get to their nearest facility, which is only open M-F. So I have some DME bullsh*t right out of the starting gate. So it sounds like a day off of work if I want to drive up there and try on some masks. This switch has mistake written all over it.

Hello--I use APRIA and I have never had a problem with them from day one. Try and keep an open mind and be postive that it will work out for you!!! There are many Apria locations near me but I only went there once ----to pick up my machine and mask. The rest I call them and they send my supplies right out to my door. They are very helpful and they do their best to accomadate. Give them a whirl before you decide --ok?

Thanks, I postponed my decision for another 90 days by purchasing a mask myself online. I presently don't have my deductible met and can't replace the headgear until 180 days anyway. Angelina's lip injections should cover the deductible by then.

I use Apria and have had no problems at all. They have been helpful the whole way. I only live 20 minutes from their office, though, so can go in and pick up masks, etc. very easily. But they do mail and that may work for you.

Do you have any other choices of DME's available to you in your insurance plan? Any that are closer to home?

If you have good insurance Apria is probably fine. However my insurance company wouldn't pay, and Apria's service was lousy, so I dumped them

My insurance went to Apria only and I had been using another for years as well as our host. I had heard some bad things about them so I was quite mad at the change, but now that they have fought to get me the very best BiPap, and the Swift LT and send me a new hose and replacement Swifts every six months without asking, filters too, I am very happy with them. They are sooo much better than the one I was using.

I've been pretty happy with Apria so far. I did have to INSIST on the machine and mask I wanted, but I got it when I did. I have very good insurance, but unfortunately I HAVE to go through Apria. My insurance will ONLY deal with them. Just make sure you insist on what you want. In the end YOU are the one paying for it,

We switched from Apria 2 years ago due to very poor service (hubby is on O2). We have been very pleased with Lincare from day one. Every person in that office is polite and always willing to help with whatever. When talking with the manager, she said the patient is their number one priority. It's the patient's health and they deserve to be as comfortable as possible. When talking with them about getting my xPAP, they told me they carry Respironics but if I wanted a Resmed they would get it for me. They said they would get me whatever equipment I wanted. I have heard so many horror stories about DME. We were in one of those horror stories but now we have found what we truly believe to be the best there is.
