This is a great site, full of so much info. I've learned so much from all of you, I really appreciate it. I'm not great a confrontation or selling, somewhat do some avoidance.
I had my sleep study on 2/24, and got in to see the Dr. on 3/10. Got a script for a CPAP machine w/CLFEX, heated humidifier and mask of choice. Went to first DME, was told I'd get a M Plus series, when I asked for an AutoM or Pro to capture data was told no, didn't need that and no one would support it. So, I left and went to the next DME. They were nice enough, but I left with the feeling that I'd hear from them in a week or so. When I asked about the types of machines they had, they were very guarded about what they would provide.
I came home and said to heck with it and ordered from cpap.com. Had the machine in about 13 hours. I'll just submit to insurance for payment. I'm going to initially set the machine up per the script for CFLEX @ 11 cm H2O. I figure, a while at that, and unless I have problems, I look to tweak settings once I have some results. I also got the software and card reader based on the discussions here. If I do hear from the DME, I'll see what kind of support they offer for masks, supplies, etc. They may not talk to me if I didn't get my machine thru them, tho. Since I travel a lot, I'm considering letting them get me a machine for use when I travel, but can probably do with a lesser machine for that. Any suggestions..
Sorry for being wordy, but I'm ready to get started.

Re: Crazy - but I blame sleep deprivation
The best thing about sleep apnea (if there is any good thing about it at all) is that yew have an excuse for any "craziness" that may occur. Who can argue with proven sleep deprivation? Yew can get away with quite a lot, I should think.boblong wrote:I had my sleep study on 2/24, and got in to see the Dr. on 3/10. Of course once yew get on the CPAP, that excuse prolly won't work anymore.

Ha! I have to agree. I'm hoping people actually forget when I started on CPAP, because I blame so much on it.
"Sorry for the mess...now that I'm feeling better, I'm just getting around to serious cleaning."
"Sorry for not sending the birthday card...now that I'm feeling better..."
"Sorry for no Christmas cards...now that I'm feeling better..."
"Sorry I forgot...now that I'm feeling better..."
I almost wish I hadn't made such a big deal out of starting to feel better when I did; I probably could have milked this thing for MONTHS.
