Actual time between filter change ??
Actual time between filter change ??
I know what the manual says about how often to change the filters in the CPAP machine, but in the real world, how often do you change your filter(s)?

Re: Actual time between filter change ??
I check it about once every week or two and it seems to be clean the washable one every three weeks and replace the white throw away at that time. I am sure when the weather warms up and the windows are open the time in between will become shorter. I do have an air filter in the bedroom three feet from my machine.

Re: Actual time between filter change ??
As often as I remember. Probably once every 4-6 weeks (and I change both fine/foam at the same time).
Re: Actual time between filter change ??
Winter months, wash reusable filter monthly and replace white one at the same time.
Summer months, Wash reusable filter every 2 weeks and replace the white one at the same time
Pollen season, Wash the reusable one weekly, replace the white one at the same time

Filter change? There's a filter??

I've never used the white (fine) filters, although I have a number of them. However, I wash out my gray foam filter about every other weekend. (it doesn't get very "dirty", but I just do it anyway)

I wash out my reusable filter every weekend. Just like other reusable filters, why change it if it still works?
I don't use the fine filter. No reason other than I didn't start and no one said to. The DME didn't even tell me it was in the bag.

Mine says not to wash it. I wish I could. Medicare will only replace it every 6 months. I'll be damned if I will pay $18 for a 1" square of filter. I'd like to find something else to use.

Oops. Totally forgot about filters, lately. Thanks.
$18 for that little piece of foam? You've got to be kidding.
And finally, I give up. What does DME stand for?
Domestic Medical Equipment?
Dead Medical Examiner?

I bought 12 micos and 2 foam off of ebay for a steal at 10 bucks plus $2.95 shipping. What a joke...

SnuggleHose - Got the 8 foot and cut it down to 6, used the rest for mask hoses.
Memory Foam Pillow - Cut my own out of my Tempur-pedic pillow. (works great!)

Re: Actual time between filter change ??
I replace mine whenever I see a layer of dust accumulating on the outer surface... which is always before the replacement schedule.

Thanks, I never would have come up with Durable Medical Equipment since the term was always used as if it were a person or company.
Re: Actual time between filter change ??
I wash the gray filter every 2 weeks and change the white disposable one once a month. Sometimes the white one gets replaced a little more often during hay fever season.

What will happen if one washed the fine white filters?
Re: Actual time between filter change ??
The outside cover comes off and the inside turns to mush which leaves the back which is a plastic grid with holes in it. Not designed to be washed!!!!!!!!!!!!!Trebor Kroy wrote:What will happen if one washed the fine white filters?
