NEED HEATED HOSE HELP TODAY!!!

Hi Everyone,

Well I got the Aussie heated hose and I went last night to Radio Shack and bought the adapter #2731776. The guy did not know what size little plug I should use M or an N. He gave me both to try. I went home and plugged it in and there was NO HEAT in the hose.

Does this hose heat up immediately or does it take some time to do so? Can you feel the warmness through the cover on the hose? I have written SleepZone back but I won't hear from them until Monday as I use my computer at work. I am going back to Radio Shack tonight to see what they think is wrong.

I was really disappointed because I waited a long while before I ordered this hose and the cost of it $117.00 which included shipping was not cheap.

Did anyone have a problem with their hoses when they first got them?

There is a copper wire wound around the full length of the tube to warm the tube and then a cloth cover to help maintain the warmth. Once it initially warms up, as it stays connected to the power, it is cosily warm all the time (except when you wash and dry it of course). I keep the power cords out of the water.

The hose is warm enough to stop condensation. I only use a passover humidifier but I find the combination very comfortable and no water collecting in my mask like before.

Hope it is working properly now it has been on for awhile.

When I plugged it in, I did not feel any warmth on the cover over the hose. Can you feel the the hose warming up to your hand's touch?

How long does it take to warm up?

I plugged it in early in the day so I'm afraid I can't say how long it took. When you go home the cover will feel pleasantly warm if it is working. It never gets hot. I'm sure it will be okay. I've asked Snork1 to send you a message if he reads yours before you leave work today (he has two hoses). Have a nice weekend. It's nearly 2:00am so I'm off to bed.

Making sure your machine is closer to the floor than you are seems to help too.

Judy,

The hose does not feel warm immediately, it is a gradual heat up. It will feel a little warm to the touch after 30-45 minutes. I do not leave mine on all time, I have my equipment plugged into a power strip and simply turn of the strip each morning when I get up. About an hour before bed, I flip the switch on the power strip on and everything is ready to go when I am ready for bed.

Hi Gilda,

Thanks for answering. I will try it again tonight. I just imagined that it would be warm like a heating pad but from others have said, that is not the case. I am going to get a power strip as I have a small extension cord and its a mess. Good idea you have to turn everything off in the a.m.

I will let you know how it works out or if it works? I hope its not defective or anything. I am so looking forward to my air being warm on a consistent basis.

It uses the same connecter as the 420 cpap. Its an "M". Perhaps you didn't get the correct power supply . Or its a dud . Plug the hose into the cpap power supply if you have the 420 just to see if it works .

The adapter that was specified by sleepzone is no longer sold by radio shack but any 12 , 1 amp device should work.

I have a ResMed Auto Respond machine and I told SleepZone that and they said to get that transfomer from Radio Shack. They did have one left with the model number that they gave me and the guy at RS gave me an "M" and a "N" adapter. I tried both but I did not give it a lot of time to "warm" up. I will try it tonight with the "M" and turn it on an hour before I go to bed to see if it works.

If it doesn't then maybe one of the items is a "dud". Thanks for your help too.

Hi,

I have a Snuggle hose that I bought for $18 that prevents rain out for me. I have real happy with it. It also makes the hose quiet when hitting the night stand or bed frame at night.

Hi JudyAnn,

I recently purchased the new heated hose with the pigtail adapter for the Tyco/Puritan Bennet machines. The amp rating on the power supply for the PB420e is not enough to run the auto and the heated hose at the same time. The auto kept shutting off. I purchased a second powersupply and blocked off the second plug with a piece of rubber tubing so that it wouldn't short and everything works fine now.

The pigtail arrangement may work for the non-autos (I don't know what the amp rating is on the 420g or s, but IMHO should NOT be used with the 420e and the standard power supply.

Just my 2 cents!
