I saw the "Little People, Big World" episode where Matt went into the sleep lab, was connected to the wires, and started his PSG. I think that later in the show, he was getting his mask (and maybe machine, but I don't remember that).

Back in the day when Rosie O'Donnell was on The View, she was diagnosed with apnea and modeled her mask (was it a CL 2? Maybe a Swift?). She also had her sleep doctor on the show; he was presenting facts and explaining SDB.

As to "Strangers in the Night": Anyone recall our own Catnapper demonstrating her mask technique for us?

Karen - NO you didn't out Catnapper like that!!! Your timing couldn't have been better. I just saw a news segment tonight warning to beware what pictures you post online because they may come back to haunt you. Catnapper, that photo is so lovely, I think you should be the hot temptress in any show developed.

Packitin - Loved it!!! We've done song rewrites in the past on here and had lots of fun with them. That one is top of the line.

Kathy

Some of the classic songs will have to be modified, ya know.

Take this one for example, an old classic of yesteryear.
(with apologies to Frank - sing to the tune of "Strangers in the Night")

Strangers in the night exchanging glances
Wondring in the night
What were the chances we'd be sharing air
Before the night was through.

Something in your rasp was so exhaling,
Something in my chest was so expelling,
My throat begins to get so tight,
Just as I get you in sight.

Stragglers in the night, two sleepy people,
We were pappers in the night,
Up to the moment
When we said our first bellow.
Little did we know
Sleep was just a mask away,
A warm embracing ramp away and –

Ever since that night we've hosed together.
Blowing air with ease, not snoring ever.
We gave in without a fight,
Just wranglers in the night.

Never going to happen. Just like you are not likely to see a fat girl or guy as the lead in anything other than a reality show about obese people. It is definitely reality but people tend to want to pretend it doesn't exist.

Too bad they're in a crazy hospital, I'm not sure whether or not this promotes a positive image of CPAP use.

With sleep apnea affecting so many, one would think the script writers or stylists would put CPAP in the picture sometime.
It wasn't a scripted show, but I saw one once on a home improvement show. One of those shows where the homeowners have completely trashed at least one of their rooms, and the show comes in and makes them get rid of stuff and organizes what's left. I saw it in the first camera scan of the bedroom sitting on top of a dress next to the bed. My first thought was to wonder if the user had problems with rainout as the machine was much higher than the bed.

However, once the show returned from commercial to discuss the plan of action for the room, the machine was gone, never to be seen again. I backed up the DVR just to see if I had really seen in the first place. I thought it would have been nice if they had made even a mention of how they might have incorporated it into a nicely decorated room, but it didn't happen.

A while back, during the weekly "Headlines" feature of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, someone sent in an ad for the Breeze Sleepgear, showing a man wearing one and ad copy about how it sets new standards in comfort. Jay completely mocked it: breathing heavily he said in his best Darth Vader voice, "Hey, want to have sex".

As someone who is more than a little self-conscious about wearing one, I found it far more offensive than funny.
