headache help?

Post by imalp » Thu Aug 18, 2005 7:51 pm

I have recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea apnea and my neuroloigist has told me it is the cause of my daily headaches.
Has anyone else had experience with this?

Lack of oxygen while sleeping due to apneas causes headaches .

imalp-
A daily headache is why I saw a neurologist. I couldn't stand it after a year, so I saw her, had sleep studies, started CPAP and within about a week, my headaches were virtually gone. They only come back when I have several bad nights in a row.

The only time I used to have headaches was if my sinuses were clogged by allergies. Then about 18 months ago I started getting headaches for no apparent reason (that I could see at the time) and they just got worse and more frequent until I started xPAP 2 weeks ago.

Since then, nothing.

I can say the same for GERD (acid reflux).

Darn, this is wonderful !

I had terrible "weekend headaches" that baffled the experts for decades. Seems like the more and deeper I slept, the worst they got. The doctors never figured it out.

They went away since starting CPAP. It sure appears that the headaches were caused by oxygen deprivation at night.

I wish i had a doctor that could have figured that out, instead of having to seek out OSA treatment based on my "snoring cure" reasearch.

No guarantee that your headaches will go away. but pretty good odds in your favor.

Imalp,

Headaches can also be caused by grinding your teeth while you sleep(bruxism). Usually accompanied by a sore jaw (TMJ problem).
Bruxism is part of the sleep apnea syndrome.
If you have these kind of symptoms a dentist or orthodontist should be able to help.
