The symptoms you are speaking of are COMMON for sleep apnea! The key thing is, do not give up. I am hoping some one here will jump in with suggestions

You are correct - it is a journey and it is likely to be part of your life for the rest of it. You are fortunate that your family doc knew something about SA and was willing to participate in the journey out of caring and not avarice.sadali wrote:Thanks so much for the encouragement and help!ybe I Maybe I should explain something. (I'll try not to be too wordy).
My family doc was just trying to help me as he knew I couldn't afford to self pay for the sleep study. BTW, The med equip co did send me report with a bunch of the info many of you asked me about. It's like learning a new language. Actually, that would probably be easier. I had no idea this c-pap therapy was going to be such a journey.
I'm sorry I seem so scatterbrained. Thank you all for your comments and help. I hope I can stick with the therapy.
I would be willing to bet not a single participant in our own versions of this journey were happy to be on it - but on it we all are. Making the best of it is all we can do. In my own case, I would rather not need to be hooked to a hose every night, but I would rather do that than feel as I used to during the day.
I won't say enjoy the trip, but I will say enjoy the results of the journey and the community you are now part of.

First step: You need to fix this sentence. It should read something like, "I WILL STICK WITH THIS THERAPY. IT AIN'T NOTHING BUT A THANG, AND I'M GOING TO DO IT, DAMN IT!!!!"sadali wrote:I hope I can stick with the therapy.
Take charge. You didn't get immediate responses from here and rather than continue to ask questions and give enough people that had the answer a chance to do so, you played the pity card and asked in two threads where to find a better forum. I'm not trying to knock you, just trying to say, "make up your mind you're going to do this and get tough about it" You got a rough road ahead of you and it will take a strong personality to whip it. As problems arise, post here or some other "dream" site and get some answers.
Once again, good luck.

SnuggleHose - Got the 8 foot and cut it down to 6, used the rest for mask hoses.
Memory Foam Pillow - Cut my own out of my Tempur-pedic pillow. (works great!)

What kind of problems are you having with the new equipment they are selling you? Is there anything specific causing you a problem?
I'm not anti-social; I'm just not user friendly

If you can share some of that report with us, we probably can help you to understand it. The abbreviations and things aren't too hard to figure out once you have had some help from others.
Also, how much are you paying monthly for this current machine? My guess is that you could pay a lot less to buy a data capable machine outright from cpap.com. That would give you a machine that could really help you especially since you can't afford a sleep study. Plus it would be data capable and instead of sending the information to someone, you would be able to upload it to your computer and we could help you to read it.
It seems like a load of work to heal from this right now. Part of that is because your currently in active sleep apnea. That means your brain is fried from lack of sleep and lack of oxygen during the night. All of us who have figured out how to get the therapy to work for us find that our thinking is much clearer after a few months of active treatment. By "active" I mean it is actually working for you. Not just that you have a machine and mask and are still sleeping poorly and experiencing symptoms.

Besides help on here you can also get help locally from a support group. Some support groups are fantastic and some are just there. You can look up on here if there is a support group near you or ask your doctor.
Again Welcome aboard.
Keep at it don't give up and good luck.
