D DAY Tomorrow
Well it looks like tomorrow I get to see the DR. to go over the results of my sleep study and possibly see if I become a new cpap user...
Any advice on what to ask.....what to expect...?
Loading rifle.....lol

Perhaps,
He will say your study shows your sleep was interupted up to x times per hour giving you an AHI of y
y is (very mild, mild, severe, very severe, lethal )
So MR xyz, I am recommending you undertake CPAP therapy. You will need to do another sleepover so the clinic can determine a cms pressure setting for you.
Cheers
DSM
(above very very abreviated & simplistic )
PS: In the case your study was 'lethal', a good doctor will pre-arrange your funeral

Then they'll likely show you how they varied your pressure while you slept and how it reduced your aphneas. Then they'll prescribe you a machine, you'll get to meet the DME and wonder why you need him, then get a machine and wonder how you made it without it!

Ramblinman, good luck and/or how did it go?
We recently devoted a section of the cpap.com FAQ to the question "I have been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, what should I do?"

Hope it helps and hope you are well.

My favorite DME at Apria, who we just hit it off right from the start, used to tell me to call him back by such and such a date if I didn't hear from him. Believe it or not, most times he did call back. Once in awhile, you get lucky. Apria and all their DMEs were lovely people. Too bad I had more knowledge about software in APAP machines than he did when it was time to get my machine bought for me. But, hey, you win some, you lose some. Can't expect total satisfaction, can you?

D DAY Tomorrow
Well here how it went......
For starters it looks like I'm going to be joining the cpap gang.... the Dr. showed me my results ( and i did get a copy of them) and sure as hell there was different with or without the cpap device. Even though I though both nights were the same ( but what do I know).
I asked him why I started the night with a nasal mask and then ended up with a full mask and he told me because of leaks in the nasal. I asked him if it was because if i was breathing thru my mouth he kinda say no and I asked if he could tell if I was a mouth breather via the results and he said they weren't able to tell.So he said that he was going give ma a nasal mask since I had bought home a full mask from the sleep study ( but I notice on the RX he put ResMed full face mask) so I'll have to call him tomorrow about that one.
I also came in with some brochures on equipment I would want ( and from reading from some people on here I think I would want Remstar pro 2 ) and he had already put on the RX the one of the companies Respironics and told me that when the DME contacts me I could ask for that machine ( well see about that not to mention what my insurance will say) and he added a ramp and a heated humidifier.
So I guess i'll be waiting for a call from the DME to come to my home and set me up.
Here's what the summary / conclusion/ recommendations said
Summary: Post CPAP (13-cm H20)
TOTAL INDEX
AHI/RDI 2 2.6
AROUSALS 13 11.2
PLM's 38 5.4
Lowest saturation 90%
Mean satuation 96
Conclusion:
The patient was titrated on CPAP up to 13-cm H20 pressure, and CPAP set at 7-cm H20 pressure appeared to be optimal.
Recommendations:
CPAP set at 7-cm H20 pressure with a heated humidifier is recommended. The patient should follow up in 4-6 weeks after CPAP therapy has been set up at home.
Just on the side what's this Arousal stuff....????? What EXACTLY where they looking at....lol
So there it goes in a nut shell.....any input on what someone might think would be helpful.....
