Re: whoa, did I ever upset my DME
Kira,
I second Rested Gal's, Wow!! You handled that messy situation like a pro. I think your DME's Supply department will learn you are not a difficult customer; but one who will not accept incompetent service. As Den posted, "We just have to straighten them out one at a time."
Can someone tell me why some DME's give inadequate apnea service? When our kids lived home, we had quite a few occasions when we had to go to a DME to pick up crutches or other medical equipment. We never had a problem with service or cooperatation ever. I have gone to the DME 3 times, since I started Cpap; I have not had what I consider good service, or even satisfactory service once.

I think it boils down to CPAP is a small part of their business and their RTs too many times just don't want to be bothered LEARNING the CPAP part of their job.

Good one, Laura.
Like I said yesterday...... (when agreeing with "track" about cheap entertainment on the forum)
Den
Sounds like me and the local APRIA RIPOFF They finally quit talking to me after I reported them to my Insurance fraud office. Haven't got a bill from them in over 2 years.
And yes that is a good one Laura.

Patrick A.
Good to have you add to the lightheartedness of the moment. Because, when you have go to bed looking like a creature who has escaped from an old Japanese horror film, a little laughter & clowning around on forum, eases the absurbity of how we look. And if our relationship with our DME is a bit shaky at the moment, who could be a better target for our banter. It doesn't take a psychological leap to connect the DME with our masks, headgear, 7 foot hose, and of course, the tweaks we add.
Unless you had the complications with your DME that you had, it isn't serious. We either move on, or make peace with 'em.
The best to a veteran of this great forum.

Well Patrick A.
Thought I was familiar with most areas in California - used to live there. And I' used to spend some time vacationing in Mexico, but I don't have the faintest idea where Mexifornia is. Whever you are - hope all is well with you.

I am about 2 miles North of the Mexican Border. It's pretty bad when you go into a United staes Post Office and most of the signs are in Spanish.

HI Slinky
Thanks for your post that CPAP is a small part of a DME's business and their R.T's haven't bothered to learn the details of cpap. I have had associations or done business with enough companies to believe if the Owner/Manager/President puts emphasis on efficient service in all areas - you stand a better chance you will be satisfied. One large Home Care Products company in our area, has said the sale of cpap machines is quick & easy and is the Cash Cow at his firm.
That may be a problem for us - if it is so easy to sell the expensive stuff, why pay attention to the part that isn't as lucrative. However, with increasing numbers of people needing cpap machines, someone has got to wake-up.
Don't cha think with Cpaptalk.com educating thousands of people to get the sleep apnea products, that answer their needs, that we are going to require better service? There was a post yesterday from a RT who now has apnea - he wants to know what he can to to help people get the right equipment. That was an encouraging post.
Always appreciate your expertise and thoughts.

I think I missed that RT's post, Jan. Thanks for mentioning it. I'll have to look and see if I can find it - or if I read it when I was half asleep.
